Honorable Mayor and Council Members, I just wanted to thank you for supporting the recommendation of the Parks and Recreation Commission and the Jack House Advisory Committee this evening. We did not arrive at this recommendation without a great deal of thoughtful consideration over the past couple of years. Another lens through which I personally considered this decision was based upon how Ken and Martha Schwartz may have felt. Having been friends with Ken and Martha and a colleague of Ken for over 50 years, it was important to me to consider their intentions. Knowing that Ken was Mayor when the gift of the Jack House property was accepted and that both Ken and Martha were dedicated volunteers at the Jack house for many years, I believe they would have agreed that the Jack House Committee served its purpose extremely well for almost five decades, but that under current circumstances, the proposed transition makes very good sense. We on the Jack House Committee feel confident that the Jack House and Grounds, a unique and special historic resource, will be well cared for, maintained and operated in a manner that will serve our community for generations to come. It has been an honor to serve on this Committee. Respectfully, . . . Chuck Chair - Jack House Advisory Committee -- Charles Crotser Architect AIA Cell: (805) 471-5967 e-mail: ccrotser@gmail.com 1
