CALL TO ORDER A Regular Meeting of the San Luis Obispo Human Relations Commission was called to order on February 1, 2023 at 5:15 p.m. in the Coun cil Chambers at City Hall, 990 Palm Street, San Luis Obispo, by Chair Colyer-Worth. 2. PUBLIC COMMENT FOR ITEMS NOT ON THE AGENDA Public Comment: None --End of Public Comment-- 3. CONSENT 3.a CONSIDERATION OF MINUTES - JANUARY 4, 2023 HUMAN RELATIONS COMMISSION MINUTES Motion By Commissioner Souza Second By Commissioner Campos To approve the Human Relations Commission Minutes of January 4, 2023. Ayes (5): Commissioner Campos, Commissioner Carlotti, Commissioner Souza, Vice Chair Kasprzak, and Chair Colyer-Worth Absent (2): Commissioner Grothaus, and Commissioner Warrecker CARRIED (5 to 0) 2 4. BUSINESS ITEMS 4.a APPROVE THE DIVERSITY, EQUITY, AND INCLUSION BUSINESS GRANT WORKPLAN Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Management Fellow Matthew Melendrez presented the staff report and responded to Commission inquiries. Chair Colyer-Worth opened Public Comment Public Comments: None --End of Public Comment-- Chair Colyer-Worth closed Public Comment Motion By Vice Chair Kasprzak Second By Commissioner Carlotti Review and approve the final workplan proposal for the Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Business Grant, with the following recommendations: • Have more examples in the description such as storefronts and grocery stores and one example of a gender affirming project • Print flyers in English and Spanish for Commissioners to hand to community Ayes (5): Commissioner Campos, Commissioner Carlotti, Commissioner Souza, Vice Chair Kasprzak, and Chair Colyer-Worth Absent (2): Commissioner Grothaus, and Commissioner Warrecker CARRIED (5 to 0) 5. COMMENT AND DISCUSSION 5.a STAFF & COMMISSIONER UPDATES AND AGENDA FORECAST Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Management Fellow Matthew Melendrez provided an update of upcoming projects. Chief of Police Rick Scott addressed the HRC to acknowledge the tragic events that took place in Memphis, Tennessee, and to ensure the community that kind of behavior is unacceptable and will not be tolerated in this city. 3 6.
