1. CALL TO ORDER
A Special Meeting of the San Luis Obispo City Council was called to order on
April 6, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. in the Council Hearing Room at City Hall, 990 Palm
Street, San Luis Obispo, by Mayor Stewart.

3. CITY COUNCIL WORKSHOP (Times are approximate)
• Review and Discuss Council Members' Clifton Strengths (35 minutes)
• Engage in Governance Strengths Exercise (60 minutes)
• Discuss Use of Various Governance Roles to Reach Major City Goals
and Effective Partnerships with Other Agencies (60 minutes)
• Debrief Community Forum and Goal-Setting Process (20 minutes)
• Discuss Specific Council Items (70 minutes)

Sommer Kehrli provided an overview of the agenda.
Review and Discuss Council Members' Clifton Strengths - Sommer Kehrli led
a discussion on the Council Members' strengths and how they work together.
Engage in Governance Strengths Exercise - Council participated in an
exercise on six Council governance roles and then discussed how those roles
can be used to affect change.
Debrief Community Forum and Goal-Setting Process - Council discussed
what worked and what could be done differently during the Community Forum
and Goal-Setting process.
Discuss Specific Council Items: Council provided the following topics for future
Brown Bag Lunch discussions:
• Advisory Body Selection
• Council Member Orientation
• Council Interns
• Liaison Reports
• Legislative Advocacy 101
4. ADJOURNMENT
The meeting was adjourned at 5:37 p.m. The next Regular Meeting of the City
Council will be held on April 18, 2023 at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers at
City Hall, 990 Palm Street, San Luis Obispo.
