1. CALL TO ORDER
A Special Meeting and Closed Session of the San Luis Obispo City Council was
called to order on October 24, 2023, at 12:05 p.m. in the Council Hearing Room,
990 Palm Street, San Luis Obispo, by Mayor Stewart.

3. CLOSED SESSION ITEM
3.a CONFERENCE WITH LEGAL COUNSEL – EXISTING LITIGATION
Motion By Vice Mayor Marx
Second By Council Member Pease
Authorize defense of the litigation through a collaboration with the City
Attorney's Office and Jarvis-Fay, LLP.
Ayes (5): Council Member Francis, Council Member Pease, Council
Member Shoresman, Vice Mayor Marx, and Mayor Stewart
CARRIED (5 to 0)

4. CITY COUNCIL DISCUSSION ITEMS
4.a DISCUSSION ON COUNCIL INTERNS
Policy and Project Manager Natalie Harnett led a discussion on the
concept of having volunteer interns to assist City Council Members. Staff
provided a brief presentation on applicable personnel administration
language from the City's Charter and Municipal Code.
Action: Informational item, no action taken.
4.b DISCUSSION ON THE CITY'S VOLUNTEER PROGRAM
Volunteer Coordinator Kiersten Anderson provided a brief educational
overview of the City’s volunteer program and provided a demonstration of
the “Engage SLO” volunteer website (volunteer.slocity.org).
Action: Informational item, no action taken.
5. ADJOURNMENT
The meeting was adjourned at 1:30 p.m. The next Regular Meeting of the City
Council will be held on November 7, 2023 at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers
at City Hall, 990 Palm Street, San Luis Obispo.
