City Hall, Monday, September -6th 1921 -- 7:30 P.M.
City Council met in regular session -- Mayor L.F. Sinsheine r presiding.
Ptesent W.B. Martin , H.A. Gowman , James Piper , L.F. Sinsheimer.
Absent : Geo. W. Bilbern.
The minutes of August 15th-,22d., 29th. and 30th- were read and approved as
read on motion of H.A. Gowman seconded by W.B. Martin.
It was moved by H.A. Gowman and seconded by W.B. Martin that James Piper be
and is:rhereby authorized to settle with the Insurance!Companies for the loss by Fire
at the Laguna Pumping Plant,
Ayes: W.B. Martin , H.A. Gowman , James Piper , L.F. Sinsheimer.
Noes None.
Absent : Geo. W..Rilbern.
Communication from the Santa Maria Gas Company was read.
The following applications for permit to build were granted on motion of
H.A. Gowman seconded by W.B. Martin:
J.G. Brooks - Garage Lot 2 Block 120 Cost # 300.00.
M.E.Bundy - Residence Lot 4 Block 41 Cost .1500.00
C.R. Dana Residence Lot S Block 93, Cost 3300.00
Stanley Mc Cutchan Residence and Garage Lot 7 Block 2 Sautheide Add.
Cost 2000.00
Application of R.M. Bradbury for permit to erect building on Lot 10 Block 104
at a cost of $ 1500.00; also for a permit for 100 ft .of 10 ft sidewalk on---the East side
Moro Street between Higuera and Marsh Street granted ..on motion of H.A. Gowman
seconded by W.B. Martin.
The report of City Collector Agnes M.Lee for the month of August. and that
of the Police Judge for the month of July and August received and ordered filed on
motion of H.A. Gowman seconded by James Piper.
The application of Mrs. A.G. Former for transfer of lodging house license
granted on motion.:of H.A. Gowman seconded by James Piper.
.The application of the Mid. Co. Pub. Serv. Corpn for permit to set a 30 ft
pole, and install anchor on Lawton Avenue between South Street and Funston Avenue to �1
servelight to 2221 South Broad.Street., referred to the Commissioner of Public Works on
motion of James Piper seconded by W.B. Martin.
Ordinance No. 93 ( New Series ) , An Ordinance fixing the Tax Levy for the
year 1921 -22 at $ 2.00 per one hundred dollars in valuation was finally passed, on motion
of H.A. Gowman seconded by James Piper , by the following-vote:
Ayes : W.B. Martin , H.A. Gowman , James Piper.
Noes : L.F. Sinsheimer..
Absent Geo. W. Bilbern.
The application of Lena C. Spence for permit to lay 100 ft. of 7 foot sidewalk
on the East side of Moro Street between Marsh and Higuera Street was granted on motion of
W.B. Martin seconded by James Piper.
The applicatiob of M.E. Bundy for sewer connection on Monterey St between
Johnson Avenue and Essex Street again laid over for report by Commissioner of Public Works.
The application.of Mrs.Alpha Barcellos for permit for sign at 797 Higuera Street
again laid over for report.
