HomeMy WebLinkAbout02/05/1923City Hall, Monday, February 5th 1923- 7 :30 P.M. City Council met in regular session- Mayor L.F. Sinsheimer presiding. Present: I.Y.B. Martin, H.A. Gowman ,.Geo. W. Kilbern, James Piper , L.F. Sinsheimer. Absent : None. The minutes of January 15th and 22d were read and approved as read on motion Jamea Piper seconded by Geo. W. Kilbern. On motion of Geo. W. Kilbern seconded by H.A. Gowman the following application for permit to build were granted: . W.A. Martin and seconded.by Geo. W. Kilbern that plans for the building of the Luigi Marre Land & Cattle Co be submi - tea to the City tngineer for hid inspection and report. The motion carried. On motion of James Piper seconded by W.B. Martin the application of R.M. Bradb for permit to build a Storage Room on Lot 14 Block 7 Central Adnition , was referred to the Co:,:missioner of Public Health and Safety for investigation and report. On motion of H.A. Gowman seconded by r7.B.Mlartin the application of R.M. for permit to build a Residence on Lot 14 Block 7 Central Addition at a cost of $ 1900.00 was granted. On motion of Geo. W. Kilbern seconded by W.B. Martin the following applicati for permit to lay sidewalk , curbing and gu +ter were granted: J.H. Henry - 50 ft curbing on the north side Higuera Street west of Nipomo Street. F.A. Carpenter- 50 ft curbing on the Korth side Higuera Street west of Nipomo Stre. =t. G.P. Long - - 104 ft 12 ft sidewalk on the north side Higuera Stre °t .lest of NipomoSt. August Vollmer- 122 ft 12 ft sidewalk on the north side Higuera Street west of Nipomo St The application of the Standard 011 Co., for permit to lay 50ft sidewalk on. 'West side Santa Rosa St and 30 ft on the North aide Monterey Street in Block 24 , was granted on motion of H.A. Gowman seconded by Geo. W. Kilbern subject to the approval and inspection of the laying of the same by the City Engineer, as was also, the application of the Shell Oil Co for permit to lower curb & excavate for the installation of Storage Tank in Block 23. The following applications for sewer connections were granted on.motion of James Piper seconded by W.B. Martin: J.D. Edmonds - Archer Street between Pismo and Buchon Street. A.B. Martin - F.atha,aay Ave between Sycamore St and Murray Ave. J.J. Andre - Higuera St between Nipomo and Carmel St Lena S. Morgan - Mill Street between Grove St and Grand Ave. Dr. H.S. Boys- Monterey Street between Chorxo& North Broad St. Pedro Marquez- Morro Street between Mill & PalmStreet. Mrs. J.F. Carroll- Harris Street between Sandercock and Branch St. Geo W. Kilbern- ( 2 ) Sandercock Street between Sutton and King Streets and on High Street near Broad Steeet. r 1 J 1 i .1 V Application of the Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Company for permit to move a pole on Nipomo Street between Monterey -and Higuera Street was granted on motion of U.B. "Martin.seconded by Geo. W. Kilbern. On motion of James Piper seconded by Geo. 17. Kilbern the Union-Oil Company was permitted to replace pole on property line on Pismo Street between Santa Rosa and Toro Street. The Merchandising Bonds of A.R. Coons, surety , J.H. Henry; Grider Bros, aurety, FT. Davidson & Frank Martin; Callahan, Wagner & Callahan , surety, C.L. Smith, were accepted with the approval of the City Attorney. The reports of the City Treasurer for the month of December 1922 and those of the City Collector and Police Ju4ge for the month. of January 1923 were received and ordered filed on :notion of H.A. Gowman seconded by James Piper. On motion duly seconded and carried R.R. Long was permitted to run hire from Cline's Electric Shop to E.E.Longs Piano Cos Store , which said wire is to be used for Telephone purposes only. The petition for transfer of license for Restaurant at 1915 Osos Street (Axtells Grill), from C.T. Simmons to Robt G. Morton, was referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for report on motion of James Piper seconded by Geo. W. Kilbern. On motion of H.A. Gorman seconded by Geo. W. Kilbern it was ordered that the policy with the State Compensation Insurahee Fund covering City Employees be renelled. Representatives of the Merchants Association and Traffic Officer Gd.o. Kilbe arreared before the Council relative to the parking of vehicles on the Streets of the City, and recommending certain provisions in re said parking. The matter was referred to tI City Attorney, who, in connection with the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety will draft a tentative Ordinance to be presented to the Council. City Engineer �.B. Burch presented Specifications Nos. 14 & 15 , being Plans and Details of Morro Street Bridge and Plans and Details of Morro Street Bridge and ap- proach sidewalks respectively. The same were adopted on motion of James Piper seconded by H.A. Gorman. It was. moved by W.B. Martin , seconded by H.A. Gorman and carried that the City Clerk advertise for Bids in accordance with the two hereinabove:named propositions, vi�: Specifications Nos. lu & 15 . Bids to be received up to 7:36 O'clock P.H. Feb. 19th.19 23. On motion of H.A. Gorman seconded by Geo. 17. Kilbern a 'dap of the Resubdivis .of Lots 9 to 19 inclusiire of property known as California Park Tract was approved by the Council. Applications for the erection and elimination of poles as per map filed, covering work to be done by tte Midland Counties Public Service Corporation and the Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Company in connection with a reconstruction of pole line facilitie in the City of San Luis Obispo, were granted. It was moved by H.A. Gorman and seconded by V.B. Martin that the Commissioner of durplies.be empowered and directed to purchase or rent a Chlorinator for use at the City Reservoir. On motion of H.A. Gorman seconded by W.B. Martin , claims against the City for the month of January were ordered paid , subject to the approval of the heads of the respective Dera rtments. Action on the report of the City Collector on licenses " uncollectable" and " =".to bb"daneelled" was deferred to the next meeting , as was also, the matter of the reques of the Frost Roofing Cc for refund" of amount paid for Contractors license. referred.
