City Council met in special called session - I.Tayor L.F.Sinsheimer presiding. ...The purpose of the meeting was to consider bids , submitted on Sept, 4th for.the construct- ion-of Chorro Street Bridge.. also to consider the sale of steel in the old bridge structure Present : Geo. Kilbern, Chas, Forbes , L.F.Sinsheimer. Absent : V1.B.Ilartin , C.!.Carpenter. It appearing that the Bid of Ift.Lane , for the sum of $ 4,023.00 was the lowest bid of all bids -received, it was moved by Chas. Forbes and seconded by Geo. 17'. Kilbern, that the Bid of Vim.. Lane be accepted . The motion carried by the following vote: Ayes : Geo, 1.7._ilnern, Chas, Forbes , L,F.Sinsheimer. Noes : !•done. Absent : 1V.B.W,;artin, 0.I:I. Carp enter. N-n motion. of Chas. G1.Kilbern the following resolution was introduced and adopted: RZSOLVZD that the City of San Luis Obispo sell at Public Auction fcr cash in lawful money of the united States of America, in front of the City Hall, on-Tuesday the 25th. day of September 1923, at 2 :00 o'clock P.LI, of said day, all steel girders in what is lraown as the Cho2 :- ro'Street bridge, being the bridge across Saa1 Luis Obispo Creek on Chorro Street between Higuera Street and I�- onterey Street in said City. FESOLVED that the City Clerk be and she hereby is, directed to advertise and publish notice of said sale and of the time and place of holding the same, for five ( 5 ) days, in the Morning Tribune, Ayes : Geo. The application of the Pacific Telephone and-Telegraph Company for permit replace a pole at corner of Santa Rosa and Llarsh Street, replace two poles on horro Street near ?Methodist Church + also, to remove nine poles ,w.ire and fixtures on I:Tonterey Street L4ppvLeen Chorro and Santa Rosa Street was granted on motion of Geo. W, Kilbern seconded by Chas. Forbes provided that the same conforms to the general scheme of pole improvement. 1012 The application of James Scettrini for permit to connect with the City Sewer on,Higuera Street between Santa Rosa and Toro Street was granted on motion of Geo..tiY. The petition of Anna I4.Lee for transfer of Lodging House license to Olive S.I'Iallis and that of J.R.France for transfer of license for Chocolate Den at 1122 Morro Street to Henry and.Thelma Tonini were referred to the CoEnissioner of Public 3ealth and Safety for-,.report on motion of Chas. Forbes seconded by Geo, W. Kilbern. Because of the fact that such signs are in conflict -with City Ordinance, the petition of Mrs. C.C.Lind and 1vlrs. H.L.Kemper for permit to place-a board sign•at 1119 Chorro Street was denied, on motion of Chas. Forbes seconded by Geo. W,—Kilbern. , The petition of The Eagle Pharmacy for permit to place -an Electric Sign at corner of Higueraand Morro Street was granted on motion of Geo. W. Kilbern seconded by Forbes with the provision that the same be installed under the supervision of the issioner of Public Health and Safety, The reports of the City Clerk, City Treasurer and Police Judge for the m August were received and ordered filed on motion of Geo. 17o.Krilbern seconded by Chas. On. motion.of Geo. W. Kilbern seconded by Chas. Forbes , the merchandising Bond of R.C,Woods ", dated February 19th 1923 - :Jas ordered cancelled, he having fulfilled obligations imposed by same. On motion of Chas. Forbes seconded by Geo. WoKilbern the merchandising Bonds of W.Iv.Rockwell, surety A.E.Brooking and of Lind & Kemper, surety H.T..Kemper,were approved. I On motion of Chas Forbes seconded by Geo. tip. Kilberr_ the application of J.C.Hill for the:_privilege of.selling, fire arms was granted and permit ordered issued. On motion of Geo. W, 7ilbern seconded by Chas. Forbes the applications-of Isabelle Tomlin for license for Lodging House at 1136 Broad Street, Orle IrIayfield for license for Taxicab, Brennan and Shelby for license for Cigars sideline and Soft Drinks at 961 I;Ionterey Street , and of Me Stephenson for license for soft Drinks at Phil Ready Building , Higuera Street, were referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for report. Applications for the regular quarterly licenses were presented and referr to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for report. The resignation of Joe Ghigliotti as Fire Chief was received On motion of 1-7.B.I:Iartin- .;seconded by Chas. Forbes the same was laid over to the next meeting. Geo. A. Freitas appeared before the Council and protested against the, " No Parking " space in front of his grocery Store at 974 Monterey Street. The matter was discussed. It was moved by W,B.Ilartin and seconded by Chas. Forbes that the space opposite Court Street now reserved as a' " No Parking " space be changed,and parking all The motion carried. On motion of !.Y.B.I:Iartin seconded by Geo.W.Lilbern license No. 298 issued to Avila Stage was ordered cancelled, same having discontinued business. On motion of Geo. !V. Kilbern seconded by Chas. Forbes the Chief of Polic was directed to collect License No, 359 Collection Agency$5.00; No, 288 H.G. Filipponi $2, and No. 406 Dr. P.K.Jackson, a 50000 Resolution No. 156 ( New Series ) , Ordering work to be done on Osos as set forth in Resolution of Intention No. 155 ( New Series ), was presented and read by the City Attorney, and on motion of Chas.
