City Council met in regular session - 1.4ayor L.F.Sinsheimer presiding.
Present : W.B.I:4artin, C.M.Carpenter, Geo, W9 Kilbern, Chas. Forbes, L.F.Sinsheimer.
Absent : None:
The minutes of January 7th and 14th were read'and approved as read on motion
of Chas. Forbes seconded by Geo. W. Kilbern,
The following applications for permit to build were granted on motion'of

An application was received from Lirs, Benj. Keith for permit to lay 150 feet
of 5 ft park sidewalk and curbing on the north side Santa Rosa Street between Peach and
Sycamore Street. It was moved by C.M.Carpenter and seconded by W.B.Iviartin and ca:
that the application be granted; that the petitioner be granted 60 days'in which to
complete the work 'It was the sense of the Council that the time limit for such work
in the said - district be extended 60 days from January 15th.'
The application of Harry Goldflam for license for Hotel Alvis Lodging House
at 679 Higuera Street was referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for
report on motion of 14.3.Larti9l saconded by Geo. W. Yilbein.
The merchandising'Bond of"Y Watanabe , Surety J.H.Hollister, was approved
on motion of 1".B.Idartin seconded by Geo. W. Kilbern.
On motion of W.B.I:4artin seconded by Geo. 1,11. Kilbern the I,Udland Counties
Public Service Corporation , application No 73 '; was permitted to remove light standard
at 986 LIonterey Street. Application No 74 of the said Corporation for certain wort to
be done in the vacinity of Pismo, Carmel and Archer Street was .ordered filed on motion of
Chas. Forbes seconded by Geo. Kilbern.
Communication was received from A.B.Tognini of'Cayucos relative:to'.the.:sale
of a certain piece of Chemical Fire Apparatus. The matter was discussed and referred to
the Commissioner of Supplies for report, as to advisability for its use -or` disposal'.
The reports of the City Clerk and City Treasurer for the month of'December
were received and ordered filed on motion of t,'.B.Martin seconded by C.I?.Carpenter.
Petition received from John Tonini et al . relative to certain Street work
in SoutY! side Addition . It was moved by C.LI.Carpenter and seconded 'by Chas. Forbes
that the same be receited and placed on file , to be taken up for consideration with former
etition covering improvement work for the same district. ' ' The motion carried,
Relative to- renewal'of Insurance on'City Employees: It•was moved by
C.1,1- 0arpenter and seconded by I51.B.L',artin and carried that the policy with the State Compen-
sation Insurance Fund be renewed; thdit the deposit premium of $' 250.00 be paid.
On motion of Geo. W. Kilbern seconded by Chas. Forbes the claim of Wm.Lane
in the amount of $' 492981 , being balance due on Sewer Contract Division "J" was ordered
d with the provision that the same be checked as to its correctness.
On motion of W.B.1.1artin seconded by Geo. IV. Kilbern it was ordered that a
t of 200.00 be made to the Santa Maria Gas Co , in accordance with lease contract
or one 75 H.P.L4otor.
Matter in re application lid. 72 of the Midland Counties Public Service
Corporation for permit to set pole at Chorro and Marsh Street was deferred one week.
The application of Foster Zl.eiser Company for permit to place a sign board
on the north side of Higuera Street near the junction of Marsh Street was granted on
motion of C.M.Carpenter seconded by VV.B.1,1artin.

The application of Sciots Pyramid # 29 for permit to hold " Indoor Sircus "
Feb.21st - 25th at 1085 Higuera Street was granted on motion of C,H.Carpenter seconded by
Chas. Forbes.
Petition of Luis and Llesquit for permission to transfer license for Soft
Drinks and Cigars Sideline at 719 Higuera Street to Y.M.Capinha was granted on motion of .
C.E.Carpenter seconded by Geo. W. Kilbern.
Applications of S.M.Anderson for license-for Cigars Sideline at 396 Santa Ro
Street, Valentino Savio ( Mission Restaurant), for Soft Drinks and Restaurant at 1015 Chorr
Street and J.P.Andrews for Soft Drinks at 1371 Monterey Street were granted on motion of
C.Iei.Carpenter seconded by Chas. Forbes.
It was moved by C.I1:I.Carpenter seconded by Chas. Forbes _and carried that the
application of Jim Moreno for license for Soft Drinks at 1634 Morro .treet be denied.
Action on the application of H.N.Harsen for similar license was continued.
The following licenses were ordered cancelled on motion of C.M.Carpenter

Application of Peter R. Gray for license to conduct a Lunch Counter at 964
Higuera Street was laid upon the table on motion of C,11.Carpenter seconded by Chas. Forbes.
The petition of Recreation Billiard Parlor for permit to place sign was
granted on motion of C.M.Carpenter seconded by Chas. Forbes.
Application of the Santa Maria Gas Company for permit to open trenches on
Mill Street between Broad and Nipomo Street , on Villa Street between Mill and Brizzolara
Street and on Bril-zolara Street between Villa and North Broad Street was granted on motion
of W.B.Martin seconded by Geo. W. Kilbern
Resolution No. 158 ( New Series) ; A Resolution adopting plans for the
proposed Storage Reservoirs 4To,, 1 and No. 2 for the City of San.Luis Obispo, located in,
Section 9 T.31 S.R. 14 E. M.D.M ( Lopez Canon ) was introduced and adopted by the
following vote :
Ayes : W.B.Martin, C.M.Carpenter, Geo.1V.Kilbenn, Chas. Forbes, L.F.Sinsheimere
Noes : None.
Absent : None.
All matters pertaining to certain proposed Street improvement were deferred
to the next meeting.
On motion of C.I%Carpenter seconded by W,B.Islartin the meeting adjourned to
onday , January 28th at 7:30 P.M.
