City Council met in regular session - Mayor L.F.Sinsheimer presiding.,
Present : W.B.11lartin , C.Pi.Carpenter , Geo.17.Kilbern . Chas Forbes , L.F.Sinsheimer.
Absent :. None.
The minutes of October 20th and 27th were read and approved as read on motion
of C.M.Carpenter seconded by Chas Forbes.
The following applications for permit to build were granted on motion of
Geo.'Iu.Kilbern seconded by Chas Forbes :

The application of, the Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Company for permit to
replace one 40 ft pole on Morro Street between Higuera and Monterey Street was referred to
Mayor L.F.Sinsheimer for investigation and report on motion of Chas Forbes seconded by
Geo.W..'Kilbern.
The petitions of the Valley Electric 9ompany for permit to hang electric
signs at La Vogue, 789 Higuera Street , and at the San Luis Cafeteria, 885 Higuera Street
were granted on motion of C.IrI.Carpenter seconded by Chaca Forbes.
The applications of L.E.I:Ic New for license for Cigars Sideline and Soft Dr
at 719 Higuera Street, E & H. Lomberg for license for Bakery at 683 Higuera Street and
?.M.Bernard for Lodging House at 1814 Osos Street , were referred to the Commissioner of
?ublic Health and Safety for report on motion of Chas Forbes seconded by Geo.rY.Kilbern.
The Merchandising Bonds of J.S. Melton , secured by certified check in the
amount of $ 200.00 Fred A Dolmner Company, Surety Sun Indemnity Co of Netii York, and
San Luis Painting and Decorating Co ( Sherwin T Smith ) , surety Wm.IoKinney and C.:%.Youngl

Discussion followed relative to Bond required for I:Ierchandising license.
City Attorney to furnish Council with abstract of Ordir mce.
The following merchardisinm Bonds were ordered cancelled on motion of

The reports of the City Collector for the month of October and,that of the
City Treasurer for the month of September were received and ordered filed on motion of
Chas Forbes seconded by C.I3.Carpenter.
The request of the American legion for p--!rmit for Boxing events at the
Recreation Center on November 11th ( Armistice Day ) was granted on motion of C.1- d.Carpent4r
seconded by W.B.I:Ia rtin.
Communication from E.H.Jenkins , Chairman Armistice Day Decorating Committe4,
relative to decoration of Streets and also requesting a contribution from the City toward
fund for such purpose , was read. Discussion . It was.moved by C.I .,I.Carpenter
and seconded by VI.B.Hartin that the cormiunication be received and placed on file for furthe
consideration . Lotion carried.
Petition for the paving of Palm Street was presented. Discussion brour-h
out the fact that the said Detition represented but 52 3/10 per cent of the frontage of the
Street covered by the said petition. On motion of 0.1'.0arpenter seconded by
Geo.171.Zilbern the petitioners were permitted to withdraw the petition for further circulation.
It was moved by Chas Forbes and seconded by 1,7.B.11.1artin that the City Engineer
make an estimate of Cost of the different kinds of pavement - i,e, 6" concrete, 5" concrete,
Willite, Black Base, 11arranite and..open specification and any other data and report to the
Council. The motion carried.
On motion_ of C.I.I.Carpenter seconded by Chas Forbes the following licenses
were ordered cancelled:
530 - Midway Cafeteria
V 772 - F.R.Fanning

Other unpaid licenses as reported by the City Collector were referred to the Police Depart-
melt for report.
Claims against the City for the month of October were.ordered paid subject
to the approval of the heads of the respective departments.
The application of I.I.B.O'Shea for license for wrestling show at the
Recreation Center was granted on favorable report and motion of C.H.Carpenter seconded by
.B.I.1artin.
Upon favorable report and motion of C.I'.Carpenter seconded by Chas Forbes
the application of Al G.Barnes for Circus and that of E.G.Cochran for license for Laundry
t 1365 IJonterey Street were granted.
Application of J.B.Schmidt for license for lunch Counter in I-Iarre Building ,
Chorro Street was again laid over.
Ordinance No. 107 ( New Series ) , An Ordinance Regulating the Business of
elling in the Public Streets, providing for the issuance and revocation of Permits and
rescribing penalties for the violation thereof, was introduced and passed to print, on
otion of C.11I.Carpenixer seconded by Geo.W.Kilbern by the following vote:
