Present : C.IsI.Carpenter, John Chapek, H.F,.Cox, Chas Forbes, L.F.Sinsheimer. Absent : None. The minutes of April 19th and 26th were read and approved as read on motion of H.B.Cox seconded by John Chapek. The following applications for permit to build were granted on motion of Chas Forbes.seconded by H.c.Cox: Floyd Cook-" Residence, Anholm Addn Margaret S.Kina- Residence, lot 7 Block 1 Buena Vista Addn GJ.P.Inman - Garage pt lots 1 -2 -3 & 4 Block 35 Phillips Addn A.J.Vermazen - Garage lot 3 Block 135 Phillips Addn Cost -$ 4,500.00 " 2,000.00 " 50.00 " 200.00 J.T.noods - Remodel Store Front pt Block 10 " 800.00 On motion of H.R.Cox seconded by Chas Forbes the application of B.J.Bowles for permit to bt.i.ld a two stall Garage on part of lot 1 Block 59 was granted with the provision that the said building be placed five feet from the division property line. The motion carried. On motion of H.B.Cox seconded by John Chapek the application of Conrad Win for permit to lay 100 ft of 5 ft par::: sidewalk and cgrbing on the east side of Santa Rosa Street between Yontalban and Olive Street was granted. The application of Paul Houillion for license for Mdse ( Lunch, Soft Drinks etc ) at 427 Higuera atreet , was referred, on motion of H.F,.Cox seconded by Chas Forbes to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for report. Applications of Frank I:Iariotta for license for Restaurant, Soft-Drinks and Cigars Sideline at 879 Idonterey Street were referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for investigation and report , on motion of H.E.Cox seconded by Chas Forbes. Applications of the Mid Co Pub Sery Corporation Nos. 115 and 116 for permit to do certain work, as set forth in the said applications, were referred to the Commission of Public Works for report to the Council on motion of Chas r`orbes seconded by John Chapek. Petition of 14.B.I,Ioses for permit to hang a sheet metal sign ( 3 ft by 28in at 1023 Morro Street ryas referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for rep on motion of H..Cox seconded by John Chapek. On motion of Chas Forbes seconded by H.r,.Cox the petition of H.Winter for transfer of license for St James Hotel Lodging House to Yargaret Davis was referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for report. The reports of the City Collector and Police Judge for the month ending April 30th were received and ordered filed on motion of Chas Forbes seconded by John Chapek On motion of C.M.Carpenter seconded by Chas Forbes the following licenses reported by the City Collector under the Caption " Out of Business" were ordered cancelled 1307 - Beaulieu's Grocery Mdse Groceries 6.00 1313 - Chris Kunkle " " 2.50 1436 - Dr G.A.Snyder Dentist 5100 3. Licenses # 1187- G.H.Durfee, Auto Sales $ 5900; 1340- D.Hc Leod, Ice Creaj I,*lagon, $ 5.00 and # 1365- T.Quintana, Transfer $ 3.00 were referred to the Police Departmen for report to the Council. On motion of H.i.Cox seconded by John Chapek it was ordered that the City Collector make further effort to collect on the following licenses: j 1217 - R.D.S:iiliiams Ildse 2.50 � 1341 - J.F,.Brooks Peddler 5100 a 1387 - O.S.Sellers Real Estate 5100 a 1452 = J.R.Stowe Attorney 5100 u 1479 - M.Sterkin Junk Collector 5100 22.50 S) 3'7 4 Claims against the City for the month of April were ordered paid subject to the approval of the heads of the respective departments, on motion of Chas Forbes seconded John Chapek. Petition of F.J.Lyneh for permit to erect a tent on " IYIitchell Lot " to be used for Chautauqua meeting& , was granted on favorable report and motion of C.M.Carpenter seconded by Uhas Forbes. Petition of Ben J.Sears for permit to install a new electric sign at 1020 Morro Street , granted on motion of C.M.Carpenter seconded by H.E.Cox. Petition of J.VI.Lundy for transfer of license for Lodging House at 1007Chorro Street to W.S:Reed ,granted on favorable report and motion of C.I.I.Cwpenter seconded by Chas Forbes. - On favorable report and motion of C.M.Carpenter seconded by John..Chapek the petition of Whistle Bottling Works for permit to place a wooden sign ( 4 ft -by 20 ft ) on top of building at corner of Carmel and Higuera Street, granted. r Application of G. +I.Grey &: E.Roberts for license for Restaurant , R.R. Avenue, granted on motion of C.1d.Carpente r seconded by John Chapek.. Applications of J.R.Robasciotti for license for Soft Drinks and Cigars Sideli e at 875.Monterey Street were before the Council. Discussion _. On.favorable report and .motion of_C.L.Cahpenter seoonded.:by_JohnLChapek -the applications- were granted. Chas Forbes voted If No IT Upon unfavorable report and motion of C.M.Carpenter seconded by Chas Forbes the applications of A.Bolla for license for Soft Drinks, Billiards and Pool and Cigars Sideline at 890 Monterey Street were denied. On motion of Chas Forbes seconded by H.E.Cox the.following merchandising were cancelled- The obligations.under said Bonds having been fulfilled the Sureties were Resolution of Intention No 195 discharged. - the Council Chris Id. There was discussion relative to the proposed Monterey Street Storm Drain- the improvement of Mill and other Streets and a new Parking Ordinance. All matters laid lover to the next meeting. Resolution of Intention No 195 ( New Series ), A resolution of the Council of the City of San Luis Obispo declaring its Intention to improve a portion of Buchon Street; creating an assessment district to pay the eosts and expenses of such work and determining that serial Bonds shall be issued to represent unpaid assessments thereon, was introduced and adopted on motion of Chas Forbes seconded by H.E.Cox by the following vote: Ayes : C,M.Carpenter. John Chapek, H.E.Cox, Chas Forbes, L.F.Sinsheimer. ' Noes : None. JAbsent : None.
