Vice .President of the Council Chas Forbes presiding. Present : C.11.Carpenter, H.E.Cox, Chas Forbes. Absent : John Chapek, Mayor L.F.Sinsheimer. The following applications for permit to build were granted on motion of H.F.Cox seconded by C.Y.Carpel?tert 1 Guiseppi..Gilardi - Residence part lot 5 Block 26 Cost 50500.00 J.T.Anderson - Residence lot 9 Block 152 Harford Addn A 29500.00 Stuart Hampton - residence lots 4 & 5 Block 1 Imperial Addn " 29000.00 Kargaret S. king - Two -Stall Garage lot 7 Block 1 Buena Vista Addn " 250.00 The applications of I:i.Lewin and r. -Irs.- O.Filipponi for permit to connect with r the City Sewer on Buchon Street between Morro and Osos Street and on Buchon Street between 11orro and Chorro Street , respectively ', were granted on motion of H.E.Cox seconded by C .ivi. Carpenter. The merchandising Bond of D.Iv1.1,,J1estcott -Surety H.A.Govnnan, was approved and the Surety accepted on motion of C.Isi.Carpenter seconded by H..L.Cox. The petition of the Los Angeles Creamery Company for permit to install a gasoline pump, also an underground storage tank of 550 gallon capacity, on premises of the Los aigeles Creamery Company, corner of Marsh and idipomo Streets, was-granted with the provision that the said installation be done under the supervision of the City Engineer. On motion of C.IiI.Carpenter seconded by H.E.Cox the Automobile Club of Southern California was granted permit to erect signs at the following points: Two railroad warning signs on Marsh Street noi;th of Johnson Street. Two railroad warning signs on Higuera Street north of Johnson Street. One railroad warning sign on Palm Street on the south approach to Johnson Street. Two fifteen_ mile zone signs on Palm Street at each approach to Johnson Street. Four fifteen mile signs at approaches to Highway and Santa Rosa Street.. Two reflectors on Johnson Street east of Buchon Street at the Southern Pacific overhead cr Ssing. On motion of C.M.Carpenter seconded '#y H.E.Cox the following licenses were ordered cancelled: s 1535'.- -.Frank Mariotta Restaurant Gone........ 3.30 1536 - " " Soft Drinks ............ 3.30 ;2 1537 - " " Cigars Sideline .2.00 8.60 On motion of C.IS.Carpenter seconded by H.E.Cox the merchandising Bond of E,.J.Houghton, secured by a certified check in the amount of $ 200.00 was ordered cancelled. Iar Houghton having fulfilled all- obligations under said bond:, the-certified check was ordered released. The report of the Pound IJaster for the month of Iday was-received and ordered filed on motion of H.E.Cox seconded by C.LI.Carpenter. T A.petition signed by F.J.Bowles at al., requesting that Buehon Street between Nipomo Street and Beach Street be paved; that the work be done along with the improvement of Buchon Street from.11ipomo Street to Essex Street was received. Discussion. It was moved by C.M.Carpenter and seconded by H.E.Cox that the petitioners be informed that the Council aan not legally entertain the project of adding to the present proceedings for the improvement of Buchon Street Petitioners to be advised that they may make private contract with successful bidder or others. The motion carried. City Engineer reported that sewer connections on Buchon Street between Chorro and Yorro Streets were being made preparatory to paving. E
