City Hall,. Monday , September 13th 1926 - 7 :30 P.M.
City Council met in adjourned session - Mayor I,.F.Sinsheimer presiding.
Present : C.L.Carpenter, H.E.Cox , Chas Forbes, L.F.Sinsheimer.
Absent : John Chapek.
The following applications for permit to-build were granted on motion of
Chas Forbes seconded by H.E.Cox:
E.E.Burriss - Brick Store Building part lot 6 Block 87 I-3.V. Tract Cost 3,500.00
L.F.Carpenter- Garage Anholm Tract " 300.00
J.B.Jackson & Everett Allison - Garage Block 61 TM - 800.00
Application of Mrs. U ie B. Lynch for permit to remove a building from Lot 15
Block 133 Phillips Addn to part of lot 4 Block 26 was laid over for one week on-motion of
H.E.Cox seconded by Chas Forbes.
The application of Foster & Kleiser Company for permit to place two advertising
sign Boprds.on E.Taylor Smith property , corner of Garden and Marsh. - Streets was referred to
the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for report on motion of H.E.Cox seconded by
Chas Forbes,
On motion of H.E.Cox seconded by Chas Forbes the application of C.J.I7eir for
permit to lay 43.97.feet of full width sidewalk and curbing on the North side of Marsh
Street between Broad and Garden Street, was granted.
Application of Firs, w.M.Steinbaugh for license for Soft Drinks at 1085 Higuera
Street , E.N.Kniser Building , was referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety
for investigation and report on motion of H.t.Cox seconded by Chas Forbes.
On motion of Chas Forbes seconded by C.M.Carepnter the a,plicption of the
Midland Counties Public Service Corporation No. 121 for permit to do certain work, as set
forth in the said application, was referred to the Commissioner of Public Worka for report
Ap_lication of Roscoe C. Steele, 634 Santa Barbara Street, Santa Barbara, for
appointment as Chief of Police was read. It was moved by C.I:I.Carpenter and seconded
Chas Forbes that the application be.placed on file ; that the City Clerk advise applicant
that the office had already been filled.
A.petition was received from the Southern Pacific Company praying for the clos
of a portion of Lorraine Terrace and a portion of Boulevard Del Campo in accordance with
description in petition on file. The matter was discussed and on motion of Chas Forbes
seconded by H.E.Cox the petition was laid over for one week.
On favorable report and motion of C.M.Carpenter seconded by Chas Forbes the
following applications for license were ordered granted :

F.R.Sullivan Soft Drinks, also Cigars Sideline 1028 R.R.Ave.
Applications of The United Meat Market, 714 Higuera Street and The Sandwich
1029 Chorro Street for permit to hang electric signs were granted on favorable report and
notion of C.M.Carpenter seconded by Chas Forbes.
TIm petition of C.E,Freeman for permit to place a sign 10 x 20 feet at the c
of French and Higuera Street , E.Firpo property, was continued one week.
