On favorable report and motion of C.M.Carpentor se.conded.by H.E.Cox the
application of Mrs Adel.e Brovelli for permit to place a marquee at the entrance to the
Plaza Hotel, Osos Street., was granted.
Ordinance No. 119 ( New Series ) , An Ordinance:repealing Ordinance No:. 2 ( New
Series ).as amended by Ordinance.No. 106 ( New-Series ) was introdloed and passed'to print
on motion of Chas Forbes seconded by C.M.Carpenter by the following vote:

City engineer presented plans and specifications.for the improvement of PA1^

City Council met in regular session - Mayor L.F.Sinsheimer. presiding.
Present C.M.Carpenter, John Chapek, H.E.Cox, Chas Forbes, L.F.Sinsheimere
Absent None.
Th®-minutes of September 7th and 13th were read and approved as read on motion
of Chas Forbes seconded by H.E.Coxe
The following applications for permit to build were granted on motion of HaOC
seconded by John Chapek:
A.N,Hartin - Garage lot 11 Block 7 Hathway Addition Cost 300.00
Susan Beardslee - Addition to residence part lot 5 Block 48 " 150000
Application of O.J.Belloni for permit to lay 50 ft of 6 ft park sidewalk on the
east side Santa Rosa Street between Buchon.and Islay Street was granted on motion of
H.E.Cox seconded by John Chapek.
Petition of Y.Watanabe for transfer of license for Lodging House and Billiards
and Pool at 192 Higuera Street to G.Tanaka was referred to the Commissioner of Public
Health and Safety for report on motion of H.E.Cox seconded by Chas Forbes.
On motioli of Chas Forbes seconded by C.Iui.Carpenter the application of J.H.Logan
for permit to remove a building from Lot 15 Block 133 Phillips Addition to Wly 45 ft of.
lot 3 Block 45 was referred to the Commissioner of Public Works for investigation and
report to the Council.

Applications for the regular quarterly licenses were presented and referred to
the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for investigation and report on motion of
Chas Forbes seconded by H.E.Cox.
Communication received from L.M.Messner, Division Plant Superintendent-of the
Western Union Telegraph Company, in re. sale to the -City of certain poles of the said Compau
which carry City Fire Alarm Wires. On motion of Chas Forbes seconded by H.E.Cox the
eommtnication was ordered filed,as was also,a communication from the League of California
Municipalities.
Resolutions from the congregations of the First-Presbyterian and the Christian
Churches protesting against the issuance of a license to the Sells Floto Circus, for a
performance on October 3d ( Sunday ) were read and ordered filed on motion of C.M.Carpenter
seconded by Chas Forbes.
The application of P.J.Morgan for appointment as Police Judge was read and
ordered filed on motion of C.Id.Carpenter seconded by H.E. Cox,
Commissioner Chas Forbes and Mayor Sinsheimer paid tribute'to the memory of the
late Police Judge R.L.Perry.
At the request of Edwin Smith the American Legion was granted permission to
use certain Flags and 13nnting owned by the City for the purpose of decorating the Streets
for Armistice Day celebration:
Ifir Chittenden appeared relative to the proposed Ruth Street subway. The matte
was discussed and the City Engineer was - directed to furnish the Council with an estimate of
the definite cost of a survey for such proposed subway.
In re Fire Hose ; On motion of C.I1:I.Carpenter seconded by Chas Forbes the.
matter was referred to the Commissioner of Supplies ; he to ascertain the further need of
Hose and report to the Council at the next meeting.
On favorable report and motion of C,M,40arpenter seconded by Chas Forbes the
application of Foster. Kleise.r Company for permit to place sign board in Block 86 corner of'-
Garden and Marsh Street was granted. -
On favorable report and motion of C.Iu.Carpenter seconded by H.E.Cox the applicat-
ion;of Llrs. W,M.Stinebaugh for license for Soft Drinks at 1085 Higuera Street, Kaiser Buildii
was granted.
Applications of the Isidland Counties Public Service Corporation .Nos 121 & 1229
to do certain work as noted in, the said applications, were ordered granted on favorable
report, and motion of H.E.Cox seconded by C.M.Carpente r. -
In re application of C.E.Freeman for sign at corner-French and Higuera Streets:
Discussion. It was moved by C.M.Carpenter and seconded by H.E.Cox that the application be
;ranted with the provision that the said sign be not constructed on the sidewalk and that -
the obstruction be not greater than the present garage.
The petition of A.M.Pettinger for permit to-install a gasoline tank and sidewalk
pump- at corner Higuera and Osos Street was ordered on file.
On favorable report-and motion of C,M.Carpenter seconded by CYras Forbes the
application of the Milestone Interstate•Corporation for permit to place a sign board in
Block 61 , N. Troy property,. lower Higuera Street, was granted.
The matter relative to the petition-of the Southern Pacific Railroad Company for
permit to close a portion of'Lorraine Terrace and a-portion of Boulevard del Campo, was
continued for one week.

Ordinance No. 119 ( New Series ) An Ordinance repealing Ordinance'No.2(New Serie )
as amended by Ordinance No.106 (New_Series) was-finally.passed on-motion of C.M..Carpenter
seconded by H.E.Cox by the following vote:
