The minutes of July 16th., 23d. and 30th. were read and approved as read on motion Of H ;,EeCox seconded by John Chapek. The following applications for permit to build were granted on motion of H.E.Cox seconded by L.J.Defosset: C.S.Tarkington - Residence Block 61 Cost 49000900 A. a berts - Residence Block 122 Llurray & Church Addn. Cost 31350.00 Residence Block 44 Cost 39850.00 Garage lot 5 Block 7 Southside Addn Cost 75.00 The application of Potter and ;Talton for permit to connect with the City Sewer on entucky Street between Second Street and the iailr9ad Right of May was granted on motion of .E.Cox seconded by L.J.Defosset. Application of C.A.Fourcade for permit to lay 64 feet of five foot Park Sidewalk.:_:. Curbing and Retaining Wall on the North side of Leff Street between Lorro and Osos Street was ranted on motion of H.E.Cox seconded by John Chapek , with the provision that the work be one under the supervision of the City Engineer. Studer for permit to operate a Shooting Gallery on the premises of Luigi I1arre Land & Cattle Company in Block 10 , Chorro Street between :Ionterey and Higuera Streets. was received, and on motion of H;E.Cox seconded by John Chapek the same was referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for report to the Council The petition of M.F.Pinol for transfer of license for Lodging House and Restaurant at 834 and 846 Plam Street respectively, to I. Bustamante was received and referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for report to the Council on motion of H. .Cox seconded by John Chapek. Application::.of the I:Iidland Counties Public Service Corporation IIo. 151 for permit to do certain work cn Buchon and Islay Streets between Broad and Archer Streets was received and on motion of L.J.Defosset seconded by John Chapek the same was referred t6 'the Commissioner of Public Works for report. Application of the Santa ;1aria Gas Company for permit to cut pavement on Osos Street between Leff Street and Islay Street for the purpose of repairing Gas main:., was receive and on motion of John Chapek seconded by L.J.Defosset was referred to the Commissioner of Public ,lorks with power to act. Petition of E.W.Souter, et,al,, for permit to use a portion of property owned by the City of San Luis Obispo, known as the Auto Camp Grounds , for a Horse shoe Court was received. Ilatter discussed and on motion of Chas Forbes, seconded by H.E.Cox the petiti was granted,.:with the provision that the. permit be revocable at the pleasure of the Council. The reports of the City Collector and Police Judge for the month of July were received and ordered filed on motion of L.J.Defosset seconded by H.E.Cox. Claims against the City for the month of July were ordered paid subject to the approval of the heads of the respective departments on motion of Chas Zorbes seconded by John Chapek. The claim of VJm.Lane , Contractor on Sewage Disposal Plant in the amount of I$ 29289.07 , being Engineer's Estimate No. 1 , for the construction of Sludge Digestor Tank land Hardinge Clarifier, was ordered paid on motion of H.E.Cox seconded by L.J.Defosset. The following applications for permit to hang signs were granted on motion of L.J.Defosset seconded by John Chapek: Sears & Roebuck - Electric Sign , Mainini Building, Higuera and Court Streets. rs, R.B.Day - Board Sign , 787 Higuera Street at Powder Puff Beauty Shop. San Luis Auto Wrecking Company- Sheet Iron Sign , 438 Higuera Street. Commissioner of Public Health and Safety, L.J.Defosset, presented a draft of an Ordinance on signs. The matter was discussed and the City Attorney was directed to make a new draft of such an Ordinance and present to the Council at the next meeting. T.A.Greenleaf appeared and urged the Council to take action on the petition for the improvement of Pacific Street, Tatter discussed On motion of Chas Fo-rbes seconded H.E.Cox the City Engineer was directed to prepare plans for the improvement of Pacific Street from its junction with Higuera Street to a point near Toro 6treet.
