City Council met in regular session - Vice President of the Council John Chapek presiding.: Present : J.B.Berkemeyer, John Chapek, H.E.Cox, L.J.Defosset. Absent : 11ayor L.F.Sinsheimer. Heading of the minutes was deferred. On motion of H.E.Cox Seconded by J.B.Berkemeyer the reports of the City Collector, and.the Police Judge for the month of December 1931, were received and ordered filed. On motion of H.E.Cox seconded by J.B.Berkemeyer the City Attorney, LI.A.Fitzgerald, was granted a 10 days leave of absence from the State, dating from January 5th 1932. The following applications for permit to hang signs were referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for report.to the Council on motion of H.E.Cox seconded by J.B.Berkemeyer : Valley Electric Co - Add bottom panel to present sign at Aut -0 -Tel Service Station. Clines Electric Shop- Neon Electric Sign at 859 ISonterey St - Dr Allan P..King. Clines Electric Shop- Veon Electric Sign at.842 Higuera St. - City Pharmacy. Application of Business and Professional ';romans Club, by Mrs. C- W.Palmer, president, for.perait to suspend a banner across Higuera.btreet at Chorro Street, was referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety with power to act. The Merchandising Bond of Ernest Gramespacher, Sureties, Joseph B. and John B. Berkeme was received, and on motion of H.E.Cox seconded by J.B.Berkemeyer the Sureties were accepted and the Bond approved. Coanunication from California State ;rmployee!s Association, extending an invitation to the City Council and all City Employees to attend an " open house " at the new offices of the Division of Highways at 50 Higuera Street was received and placed on file. On motion of H.E.Cox seconded by J.B.Berkemeyer, it was ordered that claims against the City for the month of December 1931, be allowed subject to the approval of the heads of the respective departmen$s. Unfinished matters were continued to.the next meeting.
