City Hall, Iionday, August 28th. 1933 — 1 :50 P.Id.
City Council met in adjourned session — I.iayor L.F.Sinsheimer presiding.
Present :J.B.Berkemeyer, L.J.Defosset, R.P.Howell, Joseph Leary, L.F.Sinsheimer.
Absent None.
Application of G.W.Ryan for permit to change location of house on rear of lots 1 & 2 1
Block 21 Central Addition and construct a three stall garage at a Cost of $ 400.00, granted on
;potion of J.B.Barkemeyer seconded by R.P.Howell.
Application of Kathlyn Inman for license for Lunch Counter at 1177?.'arsh Street,
and the petition of Franco Chavis for permit to transfer licnese for Soft Drinks from 687 Palm
Street to 866 ial-m Street, referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and..:Safety for report ".
to the Council.
Application and Bond of James Greenelsh for " 14holesale Off Sale " license for
Beer at 993 Higuera Street, referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for repo
to the Council, on motion of J.B.Berkemeyer seconded by R,P.Howell, as was also, the petiti
of Helen Chapin and E,A.Shafer for permit to change position of wooden sign at corner of
Higuera and I.Iorro Streets.
The reports of the City Treasurer and the City Clerk for the month of July 1933,
received and ordered placed on file on motion of J.B.Berkemeyer seconded by I.P.Howell.
Petition of Ia.R.Tonini,Jr., relative to the use of a certain unopened portion of
Sycamore Street at its intersection with North Broad Street referred to the Commissioner of
Public Works and the City Attorney
A certified copy of an order of the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Luis 1
Obispo requested, by Resolution, that the City of San Luis Obispo, and its duly authorized
officials, transfer to the County of San Luis Obispo, certain streets, hereinafter described,
for the purpose of constructing and graveling thereon a highway or boulevard as a part of the
County system of roads: The Streets or pertions of streets particularly referred to are
described as follows:
Lawton Street from the Southerly City Limits to South Street;
South Street from Broad Street to Lawton Street;
Funston Street from Broad Street to Story Street, and,Christian Avenue.
Matter discussed , and,
Resolution No. 381 ( New Series ) A Resolution of the City Council of the City of
San Luis Obispo authorizing the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Luis Obispo to
construct, gravel and repair certain streets within said City was introduced, passed and adopted,
on motion of Joseph Leary seconded by R.P.Howell by the following vote:
Ayes : J.B.Berkemeyer, L.J.Defosset, R.P.Howell, Joseph Leary, L.F.Sinsheimer.
Noes : None.
Absent : None.
In re request of merchants, engaged in the business of selling at retail, uncooked 1
uncured meats , that the council enact an Ordinance requiring such places of business to
lose, except between the hours of seven o'clock A.I:I. and six o'clock P.I:I., on days other than
egal holidays; Petitions of protest were received from Brotherhood of Locombtive Engineers
y 1A.H.Culp; Melin's L4arket et al, and 1,;Iilliam Noble, et 41.;. I:Iatter discussed, and on
otion of L.J.Defosset seconded by J.B.Berkemeyer the draft of Ordinance as presented was
ferred to the i;ity Attorney for checking and report.

Application of I3idland Counties Public Service Corporation # 211 for permit to do
certain work on Higuera Street between Archer Street and South Street laid over.
Application of C. Tablang and M. Joaquin for licenses for Billiards and Pool and
Cigars Sideline at 162 Higuera Street continued.
Application of Hand, Halpin and Hibler, Inc., together with Bond, for " wholesale
Off Sale " license for Beer, to be delivered from Truck, granted on motion of L.J.Defosset
seconded by H.P.Howell.
On motion of J.B.Berkemeyer seconded by L.J.Defosset the application of
Theo. rI. wino for per-_iit to make addition to building in Block 13 at a Cost of v 1,000.00
was granted.:
Application of Henry C. Dalessi, together with Bond and fee for registration as a
Class " B " Contractor received, and on motion of ?.P.Howell seconded by J.B.Berkemeyer the
Bond was approved and Certificate of registration ordered issued.

1"he Thirty - Seventy annual report and Budget of the San Luis Obispo Free Public
ibrary for the fiscal year ending June 3oth 1933 was received and ordered filed on motion of
.B.Berkemeyer seconded by H.P.Howell.
The matter of fixing the Tax Levy for the current fiscal year ( 1933 -1934 ) is
low taken up and the following rates for the respective funds were unanimously agreed upon:

Ordinance No. 174 ( New Series } An Ordinance levying a tax for the current fiscal
ar ( 1933 -1934 ) upon all Taxable property within the City of San Luis Obispo, and fixing
the rate of such tax at $ 1.55 on each one hundred dollars in velue of said property was
intrmduced and passed to print on motion of L.J.Defosset seconded by J.B.Berkemeyer by the
following vote:
