City Hall, Monday, June 4th 1934 - 7 :30 P.I.
City Council met in regular session - May or L.F.Sinsheimer presiding.
Present - J.B.Berkemeyer, L.J.Defosset, R.p.liowell, Joseph Leary, L.F.Sinsheimer.
Absent - None.
The minutes of May 21st and 28th were read and approved as read on notion of
R.P.Howell seconded by L.J.Defosset.
The petition of Rev. John Barnett for permit to install direction signs for the
Old :dission Church at certain locations, as set oat in application on file, was referred
to the Commissioner of.Publio Health and Safety for report to the Council.
In a communication Id.A.Fitzgerald, Aide, Divisionl Fiesta Parade, invited the
Council to participate in said parade. On motion of Z.J:Defosset: seconded by
J.B.Berkemeger the communication was received and placed on file the Council to cooperate
if possible.
The report of the City Treasurer for the month of April 1934 and those of the
City Collector and the Police Judge for the month of T;Iay 1934 were received and ordered placed
on file on :notion of J.B.Berkeneyer seconded by R.p:Howell.
Claims against the City for the month of I:ay were ordered paid subject to the
approval of the heads of the respective depart,nents and the IuTayor, on motion of i.P.Howell
seconded by J.B.Berke:seyer.
The report of the City Collector on licenses for the April quarter was referred to
the Police Department for investigation and report.
Applications of Cornelio dela Pena for licenses for Billiards and Pool and Cigars
as a side line at 861 Palm Street were granted on motion of L.J.Defosset seconded by
R.P.Howell.
City Attorney presented draft of Ordinance in re Wheat Inspection. Matter discussed.
:;ity Attorney to write Department of .agriculture for certain information on subject.
By unanimous vote the Council went into executive session.
The Council is now out of executive session.
The matter of the appointment of a Police Judge to fill'the vacancy made by the
resignation of B.J. Dillon, which became effective June 1st. was now taken np=
J.B.Berkemeyer nominated Richard F. Harris for Police Judge The nomination was
seconded by L.J.Defosset. and on roll call , RiohErd F. Harris was declared elected
Police Judge by unanimous vote - to take effect when he files Official Bond and qualifies.
On motion of L.J.Defosset seconded by R.P.Howell the meeting adjourned to Monday,
June 11th 1934, at 7 :30 P.1A,
