City Council met in regular session - Vice President of the Council
L.J.Defosset presiding.
Present : J.B.Berkemeyer, L.J.Lefosset, R.P.Howell, Joseph Leary.
Absent : Mayor L.F.Sinsheimer.
The minutes of April 15th and 22nd were read and approved as read on motion
dilly seconded and carried.
The following application for permit to build was granted on motion of
J.B.Berkemeyer seconded by F.P.Howell, subject to the approval of the building Inspector:
R.Marshall - Remodel and repair residence in Block 50
Cost $ 10000000
Application of Y- F.Andre for Show at Civic Auditorium May 11th 1935 referred to
the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety with power to act.
Applications of roster and Eleiser Company for permit to erect advertising sign
Boards in Block 22 and Block 23 referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety
for report to the Council, as was also, the following applications for permit to hang
signs :
Valley Electric Company - Double faced Leon Sign for Standard auto Parts, corner of
Monterey and Chorro Streets.
Rudolph's Electric - Double faced Neon sign for Associated Gil Company, Santa Rosa
and Monterey Streets.
Application of L.C.Bell for permit to cut-down curb of sidewalk for driveway
for Nehi Bottling Company at 445 Higuera Street, granted on motion of J.B.Berkemeyer second!
by R.P.Howell work to be done under supervision of the City Engineer.
.i.S.Shatford petitioned the Council for permit to connect with City Sewer on
Lizzie Street. ,utter referred to the Commissioner of Public Works for report.
On motion of J.B.Berkemeyer seconded by R.P.Howell the Santa Maria Gas Company
was permitted to break pavement on Monterey Street between Morro Street and Court Street
to repair leak in Gas line.
Re : Cooperative work, Forest Service - Fire Protection On motion of
R.P.Howell seconded by Joseph Leary it was ordered that $ 100.00 be appropriated from the
City Water Fund, to be applied on salary of Patrolman for San Luis Obispo water shed, for
the Summer Season 1935. Clerk authorized to draw warrant.
The reports of the City Clerk and the City Treasurer for the month of.;Iarch;
those of the City Collector and the Police Judge for the month of April, and those of the
Pound Easter for the months of :;larch and April 1935 were received and ordered placed on
file, on motion of j.B.Berkec:eyer seconded by Joseph heary.
Claims against the City for the month of April were ordered paid subject to the
pproval of the heads of the respective departments and the,1ayor, on motion duly seconded
carried.
