Present : J.B.Berkemeyer, L.J.Defosset, R.P.Howell: Joseph Leery. Absent : mayor L.F.Sinsheimer. On motion of R.P.Howell seconded by Joseph Leary the following application for permit to build was granted subject to the approval of the Building inspector: F.M..heller - Residence and Garage part lot 11 Block 124 M & C Addn Cost 900000 Application of Veterans of Foreign Wars , by D.Z. Babcock, Adjutant, for permit to sell Poppies. on City's Streets on Saturday, May 25th was granted, on motion duly seconded and carried. Communication from M.A.Fitzgerald, Aide in charge of Division # 1 Fiesta Parade, inviting the Council to participate in the Fiesta Parade on Saturday, June let. was received with thanks, and ordered placed on file. Application of Midland Counties Public Service Corporation $ 228 for permit to do certain work on Chorro Street between Islay Street and Pismo Street, as particularly set out in the said application on file, was referred to the Commissioner of Public Works for investigation and report to the Council. On motion of R.P.Howell seconded by Joseph-Leary the following applications for licenses were granted : T Nakamura - Hotel 158 Higuera Street; J.H.League - Skating Rink Winter Garden. Application of C.E.Rishell for permit to hang two metal signs - one on Monter Street and one on Chorro Street - for Standard Auto Parts was granted on motion .duly seconded and carried. Application -of R.S• Shatford for Sewer conm etion on Lizzie Street laid over . On favorable report and motion of J.B.Berkemeyer seconded by R.P.Howell the ollowing applications for permit to connect with Sewer were granted : Emma D. Brown To connect with stub sewer on Pacific Street between Beach Street and Carmel Street, Karl H. Berry - To open Street for sewer connection on Broad Street between Christian Avenue and Francis Street. Ye tter of license for Hamburger Orchard Cafe continued.
