City Council met in regular session - Vice President of the Council
L.J.Defosset presiding:
Present : J.B.Berkemeyer, L.J.Defopeet, R.P.Howell, Joseph Leary,
Absent Mayor L.F.Sinsheimer.
The minutes of July 15th and 22nd were read and approved as read.
The following applications for permit to build were granted, on motion of
J.B.Berkemeyer seconded by R.p.Howell, subject to the approval'of the Building Inspector :
Ida L. Palmer - Repairs and alterations pt lot 5 Blk 32 Cost 350:00
The Mokawk Service- Rest Room Lot 3 Block 23
Cost 450.00
' :Irs Rose Wells - Repairs to residence pt Lot 1 Blk 27 Cost 100.00
The following applications for permit to lay seidewalk and curbing were granted
on ,notion of J.B.Berkemeyer seconded by R.P.Howell:
San Luis Obispo School District 135 ft Cf' 6. ft park sidewalk :,.and 195 ft of curbing
and gutter on the north side of Branch Street between
Story Street and Ward Street.
Southern Pacific Milling Co - 147 ft of curbing and gutter on the south side of High
Street between Santa Barbara "Avenue and Southern Pacific
right of way. and,
100 ft of curbing and gutter on the east side of Santa
Barbara Avenue between High Street and Haskins Street.
The Merchandising Bond of Emma Mallette with 4v.C.Carpenter as Surety, was
approved and the Surety accepted, on motion of R.p.Howell seconded by J.B.Berkemeyer.
The following applications for permit to hang signs were referred to the
Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for investigation and report to the Council :
Joe Blazej - Three metal signs for R.VI,Shelby at 975 Osos Street.
M.V.Freitas - Sign ( glass with wood frame ) 1019 Chorro Street.
The Valley Electric Co - Neon Sign for Acme Quality Faint Store, 862 IrIonterey Street.
Gerome"s Dining Room - Card Board Sign, Andrews Bldg., Monterey Street side.
Application of A.B.Hodgson for registration as Class " E " Contractor together
with Surety Bond in the amount of 0 500.00 and license fee of $ 15.00 was received, and
on :emotion of R.P.Howell seconded by J.B.Berkemeyer it was ordered that the Bond be approved
and application granted. The motion carried.
The reports of the City Collector and the Police Judge for the month of July,
and of the Pound ,faster for the months of June and July were received and ordered filed.
Communication of Geo. D. Geib re : meeting of Channel Counties Division of
eague of California Municipalities, at Ventura, August 7th 1935, ordered placed on file.
On motion of ;.P.Howell seconded by J.B.Berkemeyer , Claims against the City
or the month of July were ordeded paid subject to the approval of the heads of the
espective departments and the Mayor.
On favorable report of the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety the4'-foil
pplications for licenses were granted :

On motion of J.B.Berkemeyer seconded by R.P.Howell the meeting adjourned'to
onday, August 12th 1935, at 7 :30 P.pd.
