The following applications for permit to build were granted, on motion of
J.BBerkemeyer seconded by L.J.Defosset, subject to the approval of the Building Inspector:

The following applications for permit to lay sidewalk, curbing and gutter were
referred to the Commissioner of Public Works for investigation and report to the Council ;
J.S. Kinney - 50 ft of 5 ft park sidewalk, curbing and gutter on south side of Church
Street between Broad Street and Nipomo Streets:

Report of the City Collector on unpaid licenses for the July quarter 1935 was
received and referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for report.
The Thirty -Ninth Annual Report and Budget of the San Luis Obispo Free public
Library for the fiscal year ending June 30th 1935 was received and ordered placed on file.
Petition of E.C.Schwafel for permit to ramp curb and sidewalk 10 ft by 2 1/2
for driveway at 408 Pacific Street, granted on motion duly seconded and carried.
Applications of the Valley Electric Co., Joe Blazej, and Rudolphs Electric for
permit to hang signs, as more particularly set out in minutes of August 19th., were granted
on favorable report.and motion of L.J.sDefosset seconded by J.B.Berkemeyer, with the
provision that said signs hang in accordance with the provisions of Ordinance.

The matter of fixing the Tax Rate for the current fiscal year ( 1935 -1936 )
was taken up and the following rates for the respective funds were unanimously agreed upon:

Ordinance No. 180 ( Nest Series j An Ordinance levying a Tax for the current f
year ( 1935 -1936 ) upon all taxable property within the City of San Luis Obispo, and fixing
the rate of such Tax at $ 1.43 on'each one hundred dollars in value of said property, for
the purposes hereinabove specified, was introduced and passed to print, on motion of
J.B.Berkemeyer seconded by R.P.Howell., by the following vote ;

Re : Insurance on City's Auto Fleet for Public Liability and Property Damage :
Tentative bids submitted August 19th. It was moved by R.P.Howell, seconded by
Joseph Leary and carried that the bid of L.T.Curtright, Agent for the United pacific
Casualty Co., be accepted in the amount of $ 328.32 . After discussion it was moved
by R.P.Howell seconded by L.J.Defosset and carried that liability on City's Auto Fleet be
increased from 10 and 20 thousand.to 25 and 50 thousand.
On motion of L.J.Defosset seconded by J.B.Berkemeyer the following licenses were
ordered cancelled
