City Council met in regular session - Vice President of the Council L.J.Defosset
presiding.

The minutes of December 16th and 23rd were read and approved as read on motion
my seconded and carried.
The Merchandising Bond of Kax K.Andersz with w.Li.Hollister as Surety was approved
the Surety accepted on motion of R.P.Howell seconded by J•B.Berkemeyer.
The following applications for licenses were referred to the Commissioner of
ublic Health and Safety for investigation and report to the Council on motion duly seconded)

Petition of Midway Hotel, by L.D.Handschy, for permit to hang galvanized iron
ign flush with building on west wall of I:jiidway Hotel Building, 993 Higuera Street, referred
to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for investigation and report.
Application of Smee's Plumbing and Heating, by John E.Smee, for permit to break
pavement 2' x,12' on Higuera Street at the intersection of Broad Street for pnr_pose of
installing new sewer for People's Cash Store. was granted on favorable report and ,Motion of
J.B.Berkemeyer seconded by R.P.Howell.
;`application of Anita Hathway for permit to break pavement on Hathway Avenue
between I'durray Street and. Sycamore Street to install sewer for new residence on Hathway
avenue, granted with the provision that work be done under the supervision of the City
ineer.
On motion of J.3.Berkemeyer seconded by H.p.Howell application of the union
re and Plumbing Co for permit to out pavement on ;Monterey Street between Osos Street
nd Court Street to install sewer connection for Carpenter Building, granted with the
rovision that work be done under the supervision of the City Engineer.
The report of the City Treasurer for the month of November 1935, and the report
f the City Collector for the month of December 1935, were received and ordered placed on
ile.
Claims against the City for the month of December 1935, were ordered paid. on
otion of R.P.Howell seconded by Joseph Leary, subject to the approval of the heads of the
respective departments and the 1.ayor.
Notice from Pacific Coast Building Officials Conference relative to renewal of
active -4embership, referred to the Commissioner of Finance.
.application of T,,?rS. Beatrice Dawson for license for Lunch Counter at 796 aiguere
Street, John Dorton Pharmacy, granted on favorable report of the Commissioner of public
Health and safety.
