Present : J.B.Berkemeyer, L.J.Def osset, n.P.Howell, Joseph Leary, L.F.Sinsheimer. Absent None. The minutes of I:;arch 1st. 8th. and 10th. were read and approved as read. The following applications for permit to build were granted J.B.Berkemeyer seconded by H.P.Howell : ter - Addition of room Lot 4 Blk 1 Southside Addn C. Wreden - Addition of room Lot 4 Blk 115 Ingleside Tract .F,scalarite - Iiew Concrete foundation and addn of Porch Lot 5 Block 121 ':iurray and Church Addn on motion of Cost 350.00 Cost 300.00 Cost 350.00 Petition of John V. Lemos for permit to move a frame cabin, 18 x 20 feet in imensions, from Crescent Auto Camp ( outside the City ) to part of Lot 4 Block 77 within City, was referred to the Commissioner of Public Works for investigation and report to Council. Application of D & D FountainLunch, Patricia Dickson and Vera Donovan, for lice :or Edse( Confect., Lunch and Soft Drinks ) and Cigars Sideline at 968 bionterey Street was referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for report to the Council on moti of J.B.Berkemeyer seconded by H.P.Howell. 59 s Application of aundle's. Inc., for permit to hang a peon Sign at 1021 Court Streeit, A.J."lulholland, referred to the Commissioner of Public health and Safety for report. On motion duly seconded and carried the petition of J.i.Thompson for permit to remove a walnut tree from sidewalk area in front of Rusca property on French Street near Higuera Dtreet received and referred to the and report. Commissioner of Public Works for investigation Petition of P.H.Holland, by A.G. Lahmann, for permit to remove nine grevillea trees from park area of sidewalk at 1103 Toro Street, granted on favorable report and motion of J.B.Berkemeyer seconded by H.P.Howell. mayor L.F.Sinsheimer voted negatively. Application of Midland Counties Public Service Corporation ; 240 for certain work on Broad Street at South Street, more definitely set out in application on file, referred to the Commissioner of Public ''orks for investigation and report to the Council, as was al 0, the application of the Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Company for permit to renew certain poles at various locations named in said application on file, dated Earch 12th 1937. Applications for the regular quarterly licenses were presented and referred to t )ommissioner of Public Health and Safety for investigation and report to the Council. Re : matter of application of W.C.Culbertson, dated January 11th 1937, for permit o remodel portion of lower floor of San Luis Hotel, Block 7, into living quarters : Plans nd specifications for same not complying with State Housing regulations nor the local uilding Code, it was moved by L.J.Defosset seconded by J.B.3erkemeyer and carried that the said application be denied. Petitioner then made verbal application and presented blue print plan complying with Housing regulations. I:Iatter discussed and it was moved 0 y ^.P.Howell seconded by J.B.Berkemeyer that the verbal application be granted provided that application be made in due form and that same meets approval of the Building Inspector}. On motion of J.B.Berkemeyer seconded by n.P.Howell the petition of Louise Thurlow for permit to remove two camphor trees from park area of sidewalk at 1045 Islay Street was granted with the provision that other trees be planted. Petition of John _iorton Pharmacy, by D.A.Norton, for transfer of license for Lunch Counter at 796 Higuera , Street to Mildred Lovelady granted on motion duly seconded and carried. Application of Cery Arcaina for license for Soft Drinks at 834 palm Street grante on favorable report and motion of L.J.Defosset seconded by J.B.Berkemeyer. 161 3e : petition of C.A.Anderson for the establishment of Street grade at the northwesterly corner of itiorth broad and Mountain View Streets : City Engineer reported that he had run curb lines on ?;:ountain View Street from Broad Street to Hill Street and had established the curb grades thereon as follows : '%ORT':I,P,LY CURB LINE At the Northwest curb corner of Broad and Mountain View Street Elev. 49.50 At a point 50 feet westerly from said curb corner Elev. 51.80 At a point 100 feet westerly from said curb corner Elev. 54.50 At a point 150 feet westerly fro,i said curb corner Elev. 57.80 At a Northeast curb corner of P,it. View and Hill Streets 70.70 On motion of R.P.Howell seconded by Joseph Leary it was ordered that the report be received and placed on file. Re : matter of right -of -way for Street across R.S.Shatford property. City Engineer furnished map and matter discussed. On motion matter carried over to the next meeting. Platter of contribution to :,,fission Trails carried over for further consideration. The following petitions of nomination of Candidates for the respective offices, to be voted on at the General Hunicipal Election to be held in the City of San Luis Obispo on onday, April 5th 1937 , were presented to the Council and ordered placed on file: For Mayor - L.F.Sinsheimer , E.Taylor Smith For Councilmen- E.yY.Black, R.P.Howell, Joseph Deary For School Director- Fred C. Kimball, Roy E.idicholson, Conrad L.Smith The matter of the Election Proclamation for the General municipal Election to be held in the City on P,'onday, April 5th 1937 was now taken up. - ,Election precinct polling places were officially designated, election officers appointed, and it t °.gas moved by L.J. -Jefosaet seconded by J.B.Berkemeyer that the Election Proclamation be, adopted. The said Proclamation was adopted by.the follo,:ving vote: Ayes J.B.3erkemeyer, L.J.Defos::et, =.P.Howe11, Joseph weary, L•F.Sinsheimer. Noes : None. Absent: None. On motion of J.B.Berkemeyer seconded by R.P.Howell the meeting adjourned to Paonday, March 22nd 1937, at 7 :30 P.M.
