Present : J.B.Berkemeyer, L.J..Defosset, E.P.Howell, Joseph 1jeary, L.F.Sinsheimer. Absent : i.-one. The minutes of April 19th and 26th were read and approved as read. The following applications for permit to build were granted on motion of J.B.Berkemeyer seconded by R.P.Howell: �c Katherina Gendrich - dddn & iemodeling residence Lot 3 Blk 32 D.B.2-dazza - Add to and remodel residence Lot 4 Blk 3 Cost $ 200.00 Cost 29000.00 Application of FJ.C.Culbertson for permit to remodel and use portion of build as San Luis Hotel , Block 7 as -a Parking Garage was referred to the Building pector zor investigation and report to the Council. The application of said petitioner or permit to ramp curb of sideivalk for driveway to said proposed garage -..-.:as laid over. Application of Barbara Chavis for license for P,estaurant at 887 Palm Street (erred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for report on.motion of I7.3.Berkemeyer seconded by =.P.Howell. The merchandising 3ond of S & K idarket, by L. Shapiro, secured.by Certified heck in the amount of $ 200.00 was approved and license ordered issued . The following applications for permit to hang signs were referred to the ommissioner of Public Health and Safety for report: Sam Holland - Neon Sign at Strong's Cleaning llorks, 659 Higuera street. The galley Electric Co - Neon Sign at Daniel's Radio and Appliance Co., 998 Higuera Street. Petition of Cambria Post 7 432, American Legion, by Chas C. Fblen, for permit to string a Banner across the intersection of Santa _;osa and I:•7onterey Streets, advertising Cambria Rodeo, Sunday I.iay 30th was granted on favorable report and montion of L.J.Defosse seconded by R.P.Howell. Application of Ers. P.J.O'Reilly for permit to connect with Sewer on Ida Street between Palm.: treet and I:fon.terey Street granted. The reports of the City Clerk and the City Trea-surer for the month of i:Iarch, and of the City Collector for the month of April 1937, were received and ordered placed on file. Re : cooperative work - Los Padres Forest Service - Fire Protection : On motion of r.P.Howell seconded by Joseph Leary it was ordered that $ 100.00 be appropriated from theCity Water Fund, to be applied on salary of Patrolman for San Luis Obispo vvate'r Shed fo-r the summer season of 1937. Clerk authorized to draw warrant. On motion of.R.P.Howell seconded by Joseph Leary, claims against the City for the month of April were ordered paid edbject to the approval of the heads of the respecti departments and the Layor. Communication from 11.B.Gilmore, Department of Governmental Participation, re support of Assembly Bill a 252 re : Golden Gate International :,'xposition 1939 together with Resolution read It was moved by R.P.Howell and seconded by J.B.Berkemeyer that the Council go on record as adopting the said :'esolution and that Clerk notify our Senator and Assemblyman of such action: Roll Call ayes : J.B.Berkemeyer, R.P.Howell. goes : L.J.Defosset, Joseph Leary, L.F.Sinsheinier. Absent: ?;one. The motion was declared lost. Petitions received from 3.S.Shatford (1) Petition for water and sewer system; ( 2 ) Petition for establishment of grade on a certain proposed street in the vicinity of Lizzie Street. Latter discussed. On motion of .P.Howell seconded by J.B.Berkeaeyer the said petitions were received and placed on file, to be taken up and considered with, and at time when that certain deed for said certain proposed street is considered. The motion carried. Application of S.P.Fay and P. Parker, by Raymond Schey, for license for Shooting Gallery at 1028 b;iorro Street was denied on notion of L.J.Defosset seconded by J.B.Berkeme er. The following applications for permit to hang signs were granted with the provision that said signs be hung according to the provisions of Ordinance and that work be done under the supervision of the City Engineer : Hudolph's Electric - 1 +eon Sign for E.EE.Long Piano Company 777 i =larsh Street. Sam Holland - ileon Sign for S.& K. 13arket 882 -866 ;onterey Street. Application of ..Iidland Counties Public Service Corporation 1.Io. 241 for certain work on South Street between Broad Street and Beebee Street again laid over. Platter of Lowe Sanitary District Sewer connecting with sewage system of the pity of Sari -Luis Obispo continued. Petition of California I.lission Trails ,association for contribution of $ 50.00 denied on motion of R.P.Howell seconded by J.B:Berkemeyer. There was informal discussion of the following matters Licenses for Garages, Contract6rs, Vending ',Iachines etc; Cutting weeds and grass near cemetery and trimming of certain trees at City's Park. On motion of .P.Howell seconded by J.B.Berkemeyer claim of the City Tax Collect in the amount of $ 191.36 , same being second installment of tax due from the City of San Luis Obispo for the year 1936 -1937 for the improvement of Palm Street, LoWer riguera Street slid Broad Street, was allowed. Clerk instructed to draw warrant on Interest Fu Ifor the said amount. On motion of L.J.Defosset seconded by J.B.Bcrkemeyer the meeting adjourned to :;londay, Iv1 &y 10th 1937, at 7 :30 P.Li.
