Davis for registration as Class " E " Contractor, together with United States Fidelity & Guaranty Company Bond in the amount of $ 500.00 and registration fee of $.15.00 received, and on motion of R.P.Howell seconded by T.B.Berkemey r the Surety was accepted, bond approved and registration granted.. Re : applications of Frank E. Smith for licenses at 978 Monterey Street Matter discussed and continued to the first meeting in September, on motion of R.P.Howell seconded by J.B.Berkemeyer. The following sewer connections were granted with the provision that work be done under the supervision of the City Engineer: George E. Lind - 'Mission Street between Chorro Street and No. Broad Street. H.G.Borah - Chorro Street between Mt.View Street and Center Street. Unfinished matters continued. On motion of J.B.Berkemeyer seconded-by R.P.Howell the meeting adjourned to Monday, August 29th 1938 at 7:30 P.M.. Application of Mrs Ida Epperly, general Chairman of Committee of Arrangements for convention of U.P.P.E.0 for permit to string a banner across i�,Ionterey Street at Anderson Hotel, designating that building as headquarters, granted on motion duly seconded and carried. Resolution No. 401 ( New Series ) A Resolution authorizing Councilman R.P.Howell, to settle the claim of the City of San Luis Obispo for loss by fire in the City Hall, was introduced and adopted on motion of L.J.Defosset seconded by J.B.Berkemeyer by the follow Ayes J.B.Berkemeyer, L.J.Defosset, R.P.Howell, Joseph Leary, L.F.Sinsheimer. :Noes None. Absent: None. Re : judgments rendered against the City, of San Luis Obispo by the Superior Court Discussion. It was moved by T.B.Berke4ieygr seconded by L.J.Defosset and carried that the City Attorney be empowered to enter into negotiations w thoMrs ,.Irene,7J::c.:Carpenter;; and D.H.Foree and Flora E.•Foree, to compromise judgments rendered.
