City Council met in regular session - Mayor L.F. Sinsheimer presiding.

The minutes of December 19th and 27th, 1938 were read _and approved as read.
The following applications for permit-to build were granted on motion of
J. B. Berkemeyer seconded by R. P. Howell:

The following applications for licenses were referred to the Commissioner
of Public Health and Safety for investigation and report to the Council:

The following applications for permit to lay sidewalk and curbing were
referred to the Commissioner of Public Works for investigation and report:
Grace Tabernacle - ( By A. 0. 7ohnson) To lay 110 ft, of full width sidewalk on
the east side of Osos Street, between Pacific Street and
Pismo Street.

Application of Wickenden & Wickenden for permit to replace a Neon Sign at
337 Monterey Street referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for inves-
ligation and report.
Application of Bric Siding Co., by George Rosenfeld, for registration as
:lass "E" Contractor, together with Hartford Accident and Indemnity Company, Bond in
"he amount of $500.00 and registratinn fee of $15.00 received, and on motion of R. P.
iowell, seconded by L. J. Defosset, it was ordered that the surety be accepted, bond
approved and registration granted.
The reports of the City Collector and the Pound Master for the month of
December, and the report of the City Treasurer for the month of November 1938 were re-
-'eived and ordered placed on file.
The following notification of Liquor license application to State Board of

On motion of L. J. Defosset, seconded by J. B. Berkemeyer, applications for
the quarterly licenses were granted. ,
On motion of J. B. Berkemeyer, seconded by R. P. Howell, the petition of
the Santa �T.aria Gas Co. for permit to install a 3" gas main on South Street between
Lawton Street and Broad Street granted, work to be done under supervision of the City
Engineer.
Petition of Neon Sales and Service, by Sam Holland, for permit to hang a
Neon Sign at 990 Higuera Street for Ed O'Reilly granted, Tm7ith the provision that work_
be done in accordance with provisions of Ordinance and under the supervision of the
City Engineer.
Petition of Rundle's Inc. for permit to hang a Neon Sign at "Sno- White
Creamery ", 888 Monterey Street, referred to the City Attorney to advise the petitioner
of the provisions of Ordinance etc.
On motion of L. J. Defosset, seconded by Joseph Leary the applications of
Aaron Rabener for license for JunJk Dealer at a location in the 1100 Block on Higuera
Street or the 1400 Block on 1.111onterey Street was denied lvithout prejudice to the peti-
tioner applying for a license at another location.
Application of Sno White Creamery by 1,41alter Petersen, for license for
Mdse (Confectionery, Lunch,.Soft Drinks, etc.) at 888 Monterey Street granted on motion
duly seconded and carried.
