Defosset, R. P. Howell, Joseph Leary,L.F.Sinsheimer I Absent : None Ordinance No. 192 (New Series) Calling A Special Election and submitting to the qualified electors of the City of San Luis Obispo the proposition of incurring a debt and bonding said City for certain Municipal improvements and consolidating said election with the general Municipal Election'to be held in said City on the 3rd day of April, 1939, was introduced and passed to print by the following vote: Ayes: J. B..Berkemeyer, L. J. Defosset, R. P. Howell, Joseph Leary, L.F.Sinsheimer Noes: None (Absent: None On motion of J. B. Berkemeyer, seconded by L. J. Defosset the meeting ad ourned. Dowler for transfer of license for Merchandise -(Ice) at 505 Higuera Street to J. L. McConnell referred to the Co_^Lmissioner of Public Health and Safety for investigation and report. The application of Rundle's Inc. for permit to remove a Neon Sign from 1037 Chorro Street, Clarence Brown,Jewelry Store, to new location at 862 Higuera Street re- ferred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for investigation and report, as was also, the petition of I. 0. Compton for permit to remove a tree from sidewalk area at the corner of Mill and Grove Streets, and also requesting that the Council place a Stop Sign at said intersection. The application of F. E. Cox for permit to remove three camphor trees from park area of sidewalk at 1224 Higuera Street on account of roots of same interfering with sewer and water lines was referred to.the Commissioner of Public ";orks for investigation and report, on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by Joseph Leary. The application of Mrs. M. Olivera for permit to recess curb and ramp side- :,alk for driveway on the west side of Santa Rosa Street between Buchon and Islay Streets, and the application of Fred Sauer for permit torepair sidewalk on north side of Pismo Street between Broad Street and Garden Street were referred to the Commissioner of Public ',Yorks for investigationi and report on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by Joseph Leary. Application of H. J. Tanis for permit to repair 60 square feet of sidewalk in front of Berkemeyer's garage, Monterey Street between Osos Street and Santa Rosa Street referred to the Commissioner of Public Works and the City Engineer for report, on m motion duly seconded and carried. On motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by Joseph Leary the application of Ernest Vollmer, and, Mrs. A. Farrini for permit to connect v)ith sewer on Santa Rosa Street between Pacific Street and Pismo Street and on Essex Street between Mill Street and Palm Street respectively, were referred to the Commissioner of Public V•7orks for investigation and report to the Council, as was also, the application of James C. Gillis for permit to open Street on Branch Street between Harris Street and Price Street for the purpose of replacing present vitrified sewer pine with cast iron pipe. Application of Union Oil Company for permit to break about 30 square feet of pavement on Higuera Street between South Street and Short Street for the purpose of re- pairing leak in oil line referred to the Commissioner of Public Works and the City Engineer for investigation and report. On motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by Joseph Leary.,the application of the Santa Maria Gas Co. for permit to break pavement on Hieruera Street between Essex Street and Johnson Street to repair gas leak was referred to the Commissioner of Public `,Yorks for investigation and report to the Council. Application of the Santa Maria Ga.s Co. for permit to install 200 feet of 3" gas main on Essex Street between Palm Street and Mill Street to furnish gas to Mrs: A. M. Farrini residence referred to the Commissioner of Public Works for investigation and report, on motion duly seconded and carried. The application of Faulstich Bros. by J. F. Faulstich for permit to construct 60' of garden wall on the south side of Buchon Street between Broad Street and Garden �treet for L. ,A. Kamm granted, on motion of .T. B. Berkemeyer, seconded by R. P. Hornell. 31 The following notification of Liquor License application to the State Board of Equalization received: 3/8/39 - John T. Langdon - dba Rainier Dist. Co. "Beer & "line 11olesaler" -306 Higuera St. Chief of Police reported on said application and on motion of J. B. Berkemeyer, seconded by R. P. Hc�,.ell, same U,as ordered received and placed on file. The petition of Robert M. Leslie requesting that water service be furnished to lot 20, block 4 of the Fixlini Addition was referred, on motion duly seconded and carried, to the Commissioner of Public :"lorks for investigation and report. The petition of Robert M. Leslie requesting that Fixlini Street from Upham Street to the southeasterly termination of Fixlini Street be graded and gravelled was referred, on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by Joseph Leary, to the Commissioner of Public Works and the City Engineer for investigation and report to the Council. Application for the quarterly licenses were presented and referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for report to the Council. Ordinance No. 192 (New Series) - Calling a Special Election and Submitting to the qualified Electors of the City of San Luis Obispo the Provositicn of incurring a debt and bonding said City for certain Municipal Improvements and consolidating said election with the General Municipal Election to be held in said City on the 3rd day of April, 1939, :gas finally passed, on motion of J. O'Lano for licenses for Lo4ng House and Board- ing House at 964 Chorro Street, also application to hang a wood frame sign at the same location were laid over for report by the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety. The petition of John Enos for permit to recess curb and ramp sidewalk for driveway on the north side of Buchon Street between Garden Street and Chorro Street granted on motion of J. B. Berkemeyer, seconded by R. P. Howell, with the provision that the work be done under the supervision of the City Engineer. Petitions of Ellen Perry, D. F. Brussow, G. A. Rossi, and F. G. Anderson for permits to recess curbs and ramp sidewalk for driveways on Morro Street between Pacific Street and Islay Street, more particularly set out in applications on file, were granted on motion of J. B. Berkemeyer, seconded by R. P. Howell with the provision that work be done under the supervision of the City Engineer. The petition of Santa Maria Gas Co. for permit to break hole in pavement 2' x 4' on Marsh Street between Broad Street and Nipomo Street to run gas service to new building, T. G. Re: Application of Gerome Piccardo for permit to cut pavement 2' x 32' on Monterey Street between Andrews Street and the City Limits to install sewer for new residence: City Engineer's report read:- Matter discussed and on motion of J. B. Berkemeyer, seconded by R. F. Howell it was ordered that the application be granted with provision that the work be done as outlined by the City Engineer and under his super- vision. Re: Petition Tony Machado requesting removal of a fire hydrant from its present location at 280 Hipuera Street: City Engineer reported on matter. After dis- cussion it was moved by R. P.
