City Council met in adjourned session - Mayor L.F.Sinsheimer presiding. Present: J. B. Berkemeyer, R. P. Howell, Joseph Leary, L. F. Sinsheimer Absent: L. J. Defosset The matter of the improvement of Morro Street was again taken up. The report of the City Engineer, also the report of the City Attorney, in regard to the matter.- were received. It was moved by J. B. Berkemeyer, seconded by R. P. Howell that the reports be received and placed on file. 7The motion carried. It was moved by J. B. Berkemeyer, seconded by R. P. Howell and carried that the Council accept the opinion of the City Attorney and the report of the City .Engineer. A number of the protestants were present and some discussion of the Morro Street project ' was had. It was moved by R. P. Howell, seconded by Joseph Leary that.the Council, in view of the fact . that a .:ma jorit3r protest was - filed, - -- abandon .proceedings on Morro Street-. . The following applications for permit to improve sidewalk were referred, on motion of R. P. Fowell, seconded by J. B. Berkemeyer, to.the Commissioner of Public '"forks for investigation and report: Kline ! %Iilliams - To fill in 120 ft. of park area of sidewalk on the east side of Nipomo Street between Monterey Street and calm Street making full width sidewalk. Mrs. Mary A. O'Reilly To recess curb of sidewalk for a distance of 30 ft. and ramp sidewalk area on the south side of Monterey Street between Andrews Street and the City Limits. The petition of Mine 'Williams for permit to construct a rock and cement retaining wall, 1 ft. high and 60 ft. in length on property line, lot 2, block 9, was referred to the Commissioner -of Public I1lorks and the City Engineer for investigation and renort. Application of the Santa Maria Gas Co. for peripit to replace a 2" pipe line with a 3" line on Garden Street between Buebon and Upham Streets referred on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by--.Joseph Leary, to the Commissioner of Public Works for inves- tigation and report. Application of William Scott for registration as Class "D" Contractor to- gether with U. S. Fidelity and Guaranty Co. bond in the amount of `1000. and regis- tration fee of $25.00 received and on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by ?. B.Berkemeyer, it was ordered the surety be accepted, bond approved and registration granted. The application of Modern Neon Sign Co. ( A. R. F?odgins and R. D. Green, co- partners) for registration as Class "F" Contractor together with U. S. Fidelity and Guaranty Co. bond in the amount of x200. and registration fee of $10.00 received, and on motion of R. P. Ltd. thanking the Council for contribution of $50.00 received and ordered placed on file. Communication of the Planning Commission of the City of Redding, read and ordered placed on file. Williams, for permit to lay 56.75 ft. of 5 ft. park sidwalk and curbing on the east side of Chorro Street between Mt. View and Center Streets (granted on motion duly seconded and carried with the provision that work be done under the supervision of the City Engineer. Application of Frank Barcellos for permit to raise 100 sq. ft. of ramp to sidewalk level, on the north side of Monterey Street between Santa Rosa and Osos Streets granted on motion of J. B. Berkemeyer, seconded by R.-P. Howell with the pro- vision that the work be done under the supervision of the City Engineer. The petition of A. V. Cline for permit to erect a marquee at 978 Monterey Street for the Blue Bell Coi=n&- Shop laid over for report from Commissioner of Public Health and Safety. U Resolution of Intention No. 412 (New Series) - A Resolution Declaring the Intention of the City Council to order a Change in the Official Curb Grade of a portion of Fixlini and Spring Streets was passed and adopted, on motion of J. B. Berkemeyer, seconded by R. P. Howell by the following vote: Ayes: J. B. Berkemeyer, R. P. Howell, Joseph Leary, L. F. Sinsheimer Noes: None Absent: L. J. Defosset Ordinance No. 193 - (New Series) - An Ordinance establishing Grades on Grove Street between Higuera Street and San Luis Obispo Creek was introduced end passed to print on motion of R. P. Defosset Resolution No. 413 (New Series) - Providing.for the issuance of $25,000 principal amount of "City of San Luis Obispo ?Water Bonds of 1939, Series A "; Prescribing the date and the form of said bonds and of the coupons to be attached thereto; Fixing the maturities thereof; authorizing the e�cecution of said bonds and coupons; and providing for the levy of a tax to pay the principal and interest thereof,was adopted and passed on motion of J, B. Defosset The City Attorney reported relative to certain steel bridge beams owned by the City of San Luis _Obispo, now in possession of W. B. Roselip. Matter discussed and it was moved by J. B. Berkemeyer, seconded by Joseph Leary that the City Attorney be directed to collect from Mr. Roselip. the value of said beams on verification of price by the Soule Steel Co, of yos Angeles to the City Attorney and the Commissioner of Supplies.
