Resolution No. 477 (New Series) - A Resolution accepting a deed from C. M. Long and Ethel E. Long covering a triangular piece of property at the Easterly end of Block "Z" in Phillips Addition was passed and adopted on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by W H. Brazil by the following vote: Ayes: W. H. Brazil, R. P. Howell, Ralph C. Kennedy, Fred C. Kimball, Joseph Leary Noes: None Absent: None The City Engineer presented specifications for direct connected centrifugal pump for the new Laguna Pump Station. Matter discussed and such plans and specifications were accepted and approved by the Council as presented. On motion of R. P. Howell, seconde by Joseph Leary the City Clerk was directed to advertise for bids as per specifications presented by the City Engineer;- said bids to be received up to 7:30 o'clock P. M. December 181 1939. Motion carried. The City Attorney was recuested to draw the necessary resolution designating the west side of Court Street, a loading zone during business hours only; parking to be allowed on both sides of the street at night. There was discussion relative to designating various street intersections as "Boulevard" - the commissioner of Public Health and Safety to present recommendations relative to same. The matter of the removal of a certain tree on Chor ro Street was referred to Commissioner R. P. Howell. On motion of R. 1'. Howell, seconded by W. H. The following applications for permit to build were granted on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by W. H. Brazil: A. R. Smith - Res. and 4 stall garage and apartment in Block 3, Cost $5800.00 San Luis Obispo School District - Repairs to Emerson School Bldg,: Blk 2, Cost 1500.00 This being the date fixed by the Council ih accordance with published notice, for receiving bids for a direct- connected motor - driven Centrifugal Pump as per City Engine( specifications, to be used at the New Laguna Pumping Station, bids to be received up to 7:30 F. One (1) Kimball Krogh Pump (Closed Type) $604.67; plus fittings and sales tax, $856.39 The City Engineer checked the respective bids and reported that the bid of the Union Hardware and Plumbing Co. for a 3" Goulds Pumpwas the lowest and best bid of all bid :received. It was then moved by R. P. Howell, seconded by W. H. Brazil that the Pid of the Union Hardware and Plumbing Co. in the amour:t of $990.90 for one (1) 3" Goulds Centrifugal Pump be accepted. Motion carried and it was so ordered. The application of Merton Austin for license for Parcel Service at 1112 Morro Street was referred to the Coms,lissioner of Public Health and Safety for investigation and report to the Council. The application of the Santa Maria Gas Co. for permit to break pavement on Bucho Street between Chorro and Garden Streets to replace 6" gas main was referred to the Com- missioner of Public Works, with porter to act, on motion of Joseph Leary, 'seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy. The reports of the City Clerk and City Treasurer for the month of November were received and ordered placed on file, on motion duly seconded and carried. Com:•aunication from the California Mission Trails Association requesting the Council to designate the week of January 8th as "Mission Trails Week" in the City of San Luis Obispo was received and after. discussion it was moved by R. P. Howell, seconded by ;N. H. Brazil that the said week be so designated. Motion carried. A petition was received from Stafford Spencer et al protesting the erection by San Luis Obispo School District of a warehouse or maintenance shop on the property at -the corner of Mill and Santa Rosa Streets, Block 32 Matter was discussed and it was moved by R. P. Howell, seconded by W. H. Brazil that the apilication be denied for such a build- ing at that location. The communication of Sowell VJ. Anholm and Kirstine Anholm for conveyance of Lot 15, Block 16 of the Anholm Addition to the City of San Luis Obispo. 42 J V The applications of Foster and X16iser Company for permit to erect advertising ign boards in Block 61, Lots 7 and 8 in Block 1, Central Addition, Block 114 Reeds Addi- ion and Block 109, Mission Vineyard Tract ( more particularly described in applications n file) were denied on motion of Joseph Leary, seconded by W. H. Brazil. The application of Lyda F. Welsh et al for oiling -of Essex Street between IV:il -1 Palm Streets Baas ordered filed for future reference. The application of L & L Amusement Co. for license for Music Vending Machines at the Golden ':'lest Restuarant, 676 Higuera Street and at 0ou's Lunch, 723 Marsh Street granted on favorable report and motion of W. H. Brazil, seconded by R. P. Howell. The petition'of J. C. Naylor for permit to connect with sewer on Broad Street near High Street was again referred to the Commissioner of Public Works, with power to act. The petition of Clyde T. O'Nan for transfer of license for Class 'B" Service Station, and Mdse ( Tires & Tubes) at 636 Higuera Street to Virgil Collins was granted on motion of W. H. Brazil seconded by R. P. Howell. The application of Ross Page for license for Billiards and Pool, Soft Drinks and Cigars Sideline at 986 Monterey Street and, of Carl M. Stockman for license for Skating Rink at I. D. E. S. Hall were laid over. The petition of H. J. Dubin re: Grades on Hathway Ave. continued. Re: License fees for Jenning's Tent Show: Matter continued and City Attorney to write Mr. Jennings relative to same. Decond petition for annexation of Caudill Tract and a part of Imperial Addition to the City of San Luis Obispo was brought up and referred for one week for report from the City Attorney.
