No. 229 (New Series) was held over for another week.
.. The delinquent license report for the Jdly...quarter were given to the Police De-
partment for another week for collection.
Mr. C. A. De. Velbiss appeared before the Council requesting that they open Grave;
Street for a distance of about three-quarters-of a block from Grand Ave. to Henderson Ave.
The matter was referred to the Commissioner of Public Works, R. P. Howell; for investigate
and report.
Nor. Jack Fisher appeared before the Council complaining of the condition Of the
sidewalk clearance on Chorro Street-between Higuera and Marsh Streets caused by-a light
pole and the entrance of the Security First National Bank Building. It was referred to
Commissioner of Public Works for investigation.
Resolution No. 618 (New Series) - A Resolution fixing the salaries and compensate
to be paid to members of the Fire Department was passed and adopted on motion of W. H.Brazi
seconded by R. P. Howell by the following roll call vote:
Ayes: `tJ.H.Brazil, R.P. Howell,.Ralph C. Kennedy; F. C. Kimball, Joseph Leary
Noes: None
Absent: None
Resolution No. 619 (New Series) - A Resolution fixing the salary to be paid to
members of the.Police Department was passed and adopted on motion of W. H. Brazil, second
by. R. P. Howell by the following -roll call vote:
Ayes: W.H. Brazil, R.P. Howell, Ralph.C..Kennedy, F. C. Kimball, Joseph Leary
Noes: None
Absent: None
On motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by W. H. Brazil the meeting adjourned to
Monday, September 22, 1941 at 7:30 P. M:

Chas. Maier - permit to construct curbing and recess curb for driveway and
gutters: on the south side of Pismo St.: between Broad and
Nipomo Streets.
Mrs. C. R. Strader - Permit for sidewalk on the west side of Lawton St.
between Mitchell Drive and Caudill Streets.
The application of the Santa Maria Gas Co. for permit to break pavement to install
2" copper gas main inside of old 3" main on Buchon Street between Nipomo and Chorro Streets
was granted on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by W. H. Brazil.
The petition of H. B. Page to install underground storage tank at 346 Higuera St.
occupied by the Model Linen Supply Co. was granted on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded
by W. H. Brazil - work to be done_under, the supervision of the City Engineer.
. The application of the Pacific Gas and Electric Co. for permit.to install sidewalk
anchor on the south side of Walnut Street between Santa Rosa and Toro Street was granted -
work to be done under the-supervision of the City Engineer., as was. also the application of
B. C. Dennis for permit to break curb and ramp walk for-driveway og the north side of-
Olive Street, between Santa Rosa and Toro Streets, on motion of W. H. Brazil, seconded by
Ralph C. Kennedy.
The following applications were granted on motion of W. H. Brazil, seconded by
Ralph C. Kennedy:
Transfer of license from Wilma Aldro,•Cigar Store, to.Daisy Oates and Sarah Jean Jones..
Petition of Neon Sales & Service to hang Neon Sign for the General Petroleum Co'..at
Marsh and Santa Rosa Streets.
Petition of Neon Sales & Service to hang Neon Sign for the Owl Taxi at 970 Monterey St.
Petition of the U. S. 0. - Y.W. C.A. to hang sign at 991 Osos Street
( with the proviso that all signs be hung under the.supervision of the City Engineer and
in accordance with ordinance.)
The applications for renewal of city licenses for the October quarter were granted
on motion of W. H. Brazil, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy.
The delinquent licenses for the July quarter were again referred to the Police De-
partment for collection for another week.
