H. Brazil, seconded by.Ralph C. Kennedy; work to be done under the super- vision of the City Engineer and in accordance with existing ordinance. The petition from L. W. Kamm et al requesting Boulevard Stop Signs in the neighborhood of the Emerson School was ordered received and filed. The application of C. D. Stowe for permit to install sign on roof of service station on Marsh and Osos Streets was granted on motion of W. H. Brazil, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy; work to be done under the supervision of the City Engineer. Petition from C. D. Stowe for permit to ramp curb for a distance of 20 ft: on the Elks Assn. property on Marsh Street was held over, as was also the petition of Rose A. Durand for a 6 ft. fence: The-City Attorney was requested-to prepare resolution and present it to the Council at-the next meeting for a number of Stop Signs in and around the Emerson School- district. The petition of the Neon Sales & Service for permit to hang double faced neon sign for Midway Hotel at 997 Higuera Street was referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for investigation and report as was also the transfer of license from 1 the Cozy Corner Grocery, by S. J. Cowie at 1401 Osos St. to Joe E.Quaresma, on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by W. H. Brazil. .Communication received from the State of California, by W. G. Stuntz, District Right-of-way Agent, relative to exemption of taxes of the 1941 -42 taxes on parcel of land owned by the State of California for right -of -way on Santa Rosa'Street was referred to the ' City Attorney on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by W. H. Brazil. The following applications for contractor's licenses were received and on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by W. H. Brazil the bonds were approved, sureties accepted and registration granted: F. C. Stolte Co - Class "A" Contractor - Pacific Indemnity Co, bond $ 5000. - rdgistration fee, $ 150.00; Del Monte Electric Co. - Class "D" Contractor - Pacific Ind. Co. bond $1000. - registration fee, $ 25.00; I. E. Duell - Class "F" Contractor - U. S. ridelity & Guar. Co, bond $ 50.00 - registration fee, $ 10.00. Communication receivedfrom W. C. Culbertson relative to leasing city owned pro- perty. Same was ordered received and filed. Communication received from the Chamber of Commerce requesting financial aid from the City of San Luis Obispo. Same was ordered received and filed. ' This being the date fixed by the Council as per minute order of October 28, 1941 and in accordance with published notice for receiving bids for the construction of a Municipal Sewage Works Project, comprising enlargements and improvements to the existing Sewage Treatment Plant of the City of San Luis Obispo, the following is a list of all bids received which were publicly opened and read: F. C. Stolte Co. - 203 Pine St. Pacific Grove, Calif. - Base Bid - $ 146.00. Net Bid - $118,100 Fritz Ziebarth - 820 West Ester St. Long Beach, Calif. Base Bid - 1599735. Net Bid - 1341835 Guerin Bros .- 208 S. Linden Ave. So. San Francisco, Calif. Base Bid - 1679700 Net Bid - 1451164 H. P. Nicholson_ 438 Chamber of Commerce Bldg. Los Angeles Base Bid - 1689785 Net Bid - 144,470 Contracting Engineers Co. - 23101 W. Vernon Ave., Los Angeles Base bid - 188,500. Net Bid - 164,500 The bids were referred to the City Attorney, Consulting Engineer, Harry N. Jenks, and City Engineer, Kenneth Beck for study. They - reported back to the Council that the bid of F. C. Stolte Co. was the best and lowest bid received, the amount of the base bid being $1460000 less the alternate 1 to 5, making a net bid of $118,100. and on motion of W. H. Brazil, seconded by R. P. Howell it was moved th4t the bid of F. C.3tolte Co. in the amount of $118,100 be accepted. Motion carried and it was so ordered that the award of contract be given to F. C. Stolte Co., and Resolution No. 634 (New Series) - A Resolution awarding the contract for the construction of enlargements and improvements to the sewage disposal plant was passed and adopted on motion of W. H. Brazil, seconded by R. P. Howell by the following roll call vote; Ayes: W.H.Brazil, R.P.Howell, Ralph C. Kennedy, F. C. Kimball, Joseph Leary Noes: None Absent: None I
