Present: W.H.Brazil, R.r.Ho!aell, Ralph C. Kennedy, F. C. Kimball, Joseph Leary !absent: None The following applications for permit to build were granted on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by W. H. Brazil: Grace & Earl Bernard - Residence, Lot 4, Blk. 3, Buena Vista Addn. Cost 1950.00 Hilda Hansen - ( Dwelling ) Place conc. founcation and floor, Lot C, Block 16, Central Addn. " 250.00 On motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by W. H. Brazil the following applications were granted; work to be done under the supervision of the City Engineer: Better Plumbing Co. - Sewer Conn. on Johnson Ave. near Spring St. Southern Counties Gas Co. - To break hole in pavement on Monterey Street between Santa Rosa and Toro Streets. The following applications for sign permits were granted; work to be done under the supervision of the City Engineer, on motion of V1. H. Brazil, seconded by R,i-.Howell:- Neon Sales & Service - to hang double faced neon sign for U.S.O. Service Club at 977 Higuera St. Valley Electric Co. - To install single faced neon sign at 758 Higuera St. for Anita Frocks, Inc. The application of the A.F. of L., Local 1464, for a Dance Hall license at 1530 Monterey St. was referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for in- vestigatiDn and report. Copy of Resolution from the State of California, Department of Public Works, re: To the Maintenance of lighting and operation of crossing ( during the war emergency) was ordered received and filed, on motion of W.H. Brazil, seconded by R. P. Howell, The claim filed by F. C. Stolte Co. in the amount of $5913.00 as payment No.. 1 on the Sewage Treatment Plant, as per contract, was ordered paid, on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by R. P. Howell. This being the-time set for hearing on the Unpaid Assessment List.for the Improvement of Grove Street it. Improvement District, under and pursuant to Resolution of Intention No. 583 (New Series), the matter was taken up by the Council; no written objections against issuance of the bonds were presented or filed and no one appeared to make verbal protest: Mr. Joseph Thomas appeared before the Council complaining of the type of work in the Grove St. (it.) Imp. District, particularly, the curbing in front of his property at 1542 Mill Street. The matter was referred to the Commissioner of Public Works and the City Engineer, Mr. Kenneth Beck. Resolution No. 652 (New Series) - A Resolution relating to the issuance of Improvement bonds of the City of San Luis Obispo, pursuant to Resolution :of Intention No. 583 (New Series) determining the amount of Unpaid Assessments, Prescribing the Denomi- nations of such bonds, and providing for their issuance and delivery,was duly and regu- larly adopted on motion of '.V. H.Brazil, seconded by R. P. Howell upon the following roll call vote: Ayes: W.H.Brazil, R.F. Howell, Ralph C. Kennedy, F. C. Kimball, Joseph Leary Noes: None Absent: None Mr. Dubin appeared before the Council asking the Council to. change the name of Eto Street in the Nippon Tract. The matter was discussed but no action taken at this time, On motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by W. H. Brazil, Wednesday, February 18, 1942 was the date set for an Informal Hearing of the Proposed Pismo Street ( it.) Imp. District, and the City Clerk was instructed to notify all property owners in this district, by mail.
