Kimball presiding. &resent: `3.H; Brazil, R.P.Howell, Ralph C. Kennedy, F. C. Kimball Absent: Joseph Leary The minutes of April 20th, 27th and the Special Called Meeting on the 28th were read and approved as read. The following applications for permit to build weregranted on motion of R.P. Howell, seconded by W. H. Brazil: Grace R. Thornburgh - Build fire -place in present resiidence, Blk. 172 - Cost $ 200.00 Harry J. Laird - Alterations - 3 dormitory rooms and bath - block 23, " 3000.60 The following miscellaneous permits were granted on motion of R. P. Howe11, seconded by 77. H. Brazil; work to be done 'under the supervision of the City Engineer: Chris Anholm - 50 ft. of sidewalk and curbing on the east side of Lincoln St. between Chorro and Mt. View 3t. �. R. Johnson - Sewer connection on Francis St. between Victoria and Frederick St. Southern Companies Gas Co. - Break pavement to replace old gas mains on Monterey St. between Dhorro and Santa Rosa Sts. The petition of Robert Crossman for permit to conduct a public dance to be held on PGay 9th, 1942 at 1190 Monterey. St. was referred to the Commissioner of -Public Health and Safety, with power to act, on motion of R.P. Howell, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy. Notification received from the State Board of Equalization for transfer of license for "On Sale Distilled Spirits" and "On Sale Beer and Wine" from G. S. Newell to G. S. and J.-P. Newell dba Newell's Cigar Store at 1025 Morro St. Same was ordered re- ceived and filed. Communication received from N. D. Sanford, Building Inspector, tendering his resignation as Building Inspector, and on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by W. H.Brazil, the resignation was accepted with regrets. On motion of R.P. Howell, seconded by W. H. Brazil the City Clerk was in- dtructed to draw a warrant against the Administration Fund, payable to B. R. Harris for refund for a building permit, as construction on said building was cancelled, however, at a later date,a new permit was issued for this construction, which was paid at that time. The reports of the Police Dept. and of the City Collector for the month of April, 1942 were ordered received and filed. On motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by W. H. Brazil, the following licenses were referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for investigation and report- Ed. Claims against the City for the month of April, 1942 were ordered paid,- subject to the approval of the heads of the respective departments and the Mayor, The applications for City Licenses for Dorothy White and Mrs. Thelma Ibanez and George Mamaril were again held over, upon recommendation of W. H. Brazil.
