Authority was granted by the Council. An invitation , ,:as rece.ived from I. Lester in charge of the Veterans Memorial Day Services, inviting the Mayor and City Council to take part in the parade and cere- monies on that day. The City Attorney was instructed to prepare an.amendment to Ordinance No. 47 and present same to the Council at the next meeting. On motion of Ral C. Kennedy, seconded by W. H. Kimball The Minutes of May 18th and 28th were read-and approved as read. The following applications for re rmit to build were granted on motion of W.H. Brazil, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy: W. H. Donelson - Washroom attached to Garage, Lot 28, Caudill Tract Cost $ 40.00 Pete Maggi - Storage and wash room - rear of Lot 9, Blk. 679 Mission Orchard, " 200.00 On motion of W.H.Brazil, seconded by Ralph C.'Kennedy, the applicati3n of Southern Counties GasCo. for.permit to break pavement on Higuera Street between Nipomo Street and French Road was referred to the Commissioner-of Public Works, with power to act. Communication received from the League of California Cities outlining a salvage pickup program for the City of San Luis Obispo. Same was referred to Commissioner Joseph Leary for investigation and consideration and he was instructed to report back his find- ings to the Council. Notification received from the State Board of Equalization for an "On Sale Beer only" license for O.J. and A. M. Laurent & H. W. Greenburg, dba San Luis Obispo Recreation Co., 1115 Santa Rosa Street. Same was referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety, with power to act. Petition received from Herbert Snyder for permission to locate a taxi stand at 860 Monterey Street in front of "Berta's Place" and on motion of W.H.Brazil, seconded by Joseph Leary, the request was denied. On motion of W.H.Brazil, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy the following reports were ordered received and filed: Police Department's report for May, 19420 City Collector's report for May, 1942 City Collector's report for Uncollected Licenses for the April 1942 quarter. Claims against the city for the month of May, 1942, were ordered paid, subject to the approval of the heads of the respective departments and the Mayor. 9 ® � On motion.of Ralph C. Ordinance No. 242 (New Series) - An Ordinance Amending Sections 6 and 7 of Ordinance o. 47 (New Series) entitled "An Ordinance of the City of San Luis Obispo requiring and roviding for the removal from property, lands, or lots, of weeds, rubbish and other aterial which may endanger or injure neighboring property or the Health or VIelfare of esidents of the vicinity, and providing for the establishment of liens for the cost of uch removal and for the enforcement of such liens was introduced and passed to print on otion of W.
