On motion of k.P.Howell, seconded b;;7 Joseph Leary the following building permits were granted; Frank D. Ieuzio - Repairs to bldg. Lot 9, Blk. 89 14I & C. Addn, Cost 45.00 G. F. Rhodes - Repair and remodel bldg. Lot 23, Blk. 61, McDougall Tr. " 850.00 Hackett & Shadinger - Remodel Bldg. Pt Lots 3 & 4, Blk. 153, Harford Addn. 650.00 Raz silherret - Flarehouse & Feed room, Lot 12, Blk B, Goldtree Vineyard- 800.00 the above application was granted subject to the ar_proval of Government regulations) The application of Andrews Estate for; Ipermit to patch 280 sq. ft. of side- walk on the north side of Monterey Street between Osos and Morro Streets was granted on motion of R.P.Howell, seconded by Clyde T. O'Nan, as was also the permit of Ella Villa to build a wire fence at 1645 Chorro Street. The application of the Southern Countibe Gas Company for permit to break pavement in various locations was granted on motion of R.P. Howell, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy, under the supervision of the City Engineer. The applications for permit to hang signs by Glinets Electric Co. for The Independent at 971 Osos St., and for G. S. Brown at 717 Higuera Street were referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety, -:iith power to act, on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by Ralph. C. Kennedy. The following applications were referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for investigation and report: Transfer of license from Susie Pettenger to Frank. and Gladys Funk Application for ilechanical Amusement Devices by 0. The following reports were ordered received and filed on notion of R. P. Howell, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy: Retort of the Police Department for the month of May, 1943 Report of City Collector Report of Police Judge " " " '} ^ The delinquent license list for the April 1943 quarter was referred to the Police Department for collection. Claims against the city for the month of May, 1943 were ordered paid, subject to the approval of the heads of the respective departments and the T%Layor. The Industrial Accident Commission Claim No. 76329 awarded payment to Yary C. Garner in the amount of $1228.50, payable at the rate of $7.41 per week, commencing December 5, 1941 and continuing thereafter until the whole of this award shall have been paid, less credit for x$`'175.00 payable to Nelson and Castro as attorneys' fees, and on motion of R.P.Ho:aell, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy the City Clerk was author- ized to draw claims on the General Fund as outlined in this ruling. An Agreement was presented by the Pacific Gas and Electric :Co. which was referred.to the City Attorney for study, and to prepare resolution. The renewal of War Risk Insurance was referred to Commissioner Kennedy for report back to the Council. Resolution_ No. 699 (New Series) - A Resolution providing for the execution of an Agreement between the City of San Luis Obispo and the Department of Motor Vehicles relative to Radio Station K Q D 0 was passed and adopted on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy upon the following vote: Ayes: R.P.Howe1"1, Ralph C..Kennedy, F. C. Kimball, Joseph Leary, Clyde T. O'Nan Noes: None Absent: None The claim of Vernon F. moons on Administration Fund in the amount of $2968.50 as filed by A. H. Brazil re:-Automobile. accident was denied. This being the time set for hearing protests or objections to the grant- ing of a gas franchise to Southern Counties Gas Co. of California, as fixed by Resolution of Intention No. 696 (New Series), the matter is now taken up by the Council. The City Clerk stated "that no written protests or objections had been received or filed, and no one appeared in person at the meeting to make any protest or objection to the granting of such franchise. After discussion and upon motion of R.P.Howell, seconded-by Ralph C. Kennedy, the Ordinance granting such franchise-, entitled, "An Ordinance of the City of San Luis Obispo granting to Southern Counties Gas Company of California, a corporation, the ril-ht, privilege and franchise to-lay and use pipes and appurtenances for transmitting and distributing gas for any and a1-1 purposes under, along, across or upon the Public Street, '.'lays, Alleys and Places, as the same now or may hereafter exist, within said municipality, was passed to print, upon the following roll--call vote: Ayes': R'.P.Hm,.ell, Ralph C.
