O'ATan, seconded by Joseph Leary, the City Clerk was instructed to notify the Power Company to install an overhanging street light at Fixlini and Ella streets. The Chief of Police was instructed to notify the o-,.ner of the vJilson Grocery Store property at Broad and Sandercock Streets to board up the building and windows to eliminate a possible fire hazard. The petition filed by Farmers Hardware and Equipment Co. to remove Neon signs from 675 Higuera St. to 581 Higuera St. was referred to the Commissioner of Public Health & Safety for investigation and report on motion of R.P.Howell, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy. Communication from Frank Tercis at 479 No. Broad St. under date of November 19th, relative to condition of old buildings and parts of buildings in the. City of San Luis Obispo, asked the City Council for legal action or ordinance be passed to authorize removal of such buildings was referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for investigation and report. Smith, dba Brown & Doyle, were ordered received and filed on motion of Joseph Leary, seconded by R. P. Howell, Commissioner Clyde T. O'Nanpresented two checks for $25.00 each, from the San Luis Obispo Jewish Community Center and the Council of Jewish Women'as a contribution toward the purchase of park benches. A claim filed by C. F. Jackson in the amount of $235.00 on the General Fund for payment for labor and material including State Sales Tax for repairing clock in the Toaer Bldg, corner of Chorro and Higuera Streets was not allowed pending approval of the signed agreement between Mr. Painter, owner of the building, and the Citycf San Luis .Obispo, on motion of R.P. O'Nan, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy the City Clerk was instructed to advertise for bids on a 1930 Ford Pickup to be sold at public auction to-. the highest bidder at the meeting of said City Council to be held at the Council chambers ' in the City Hall on Monday, December 20, 1943 at 7:30 P.M9, On motion of R.P.Howell, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy it was ordered that John E. Martin be employed in the Water Department at a monthly salary of $160.00 per month and C. Escalante•taken off the monthly salary rate and put on a daily basis: On motion of R.P.Howell, seconded by Clyde T.,O'Nan it was ordered that the ' Acting Building Inspector be instructed to make electrical inspection for the ur ose of P P approving electrical installation on the Federal Housing Units. On motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by H.P.Ho�-aell, the Pacific Gas_ and Electric Co. were 'authorized to install three overhead street lights between.the High School grounds and the Creek on San Luis Drive adjoining the Escuela Alta Tract. Commissioner R.P.Hovaell announced that a City clean -up week would be held starting Monday December 13th, through Saturday, December 18th.
