The City Clerk was instructed to draw warrant payable to the Industrial
Equipment Co. in the amount of $5401.75 for the purchase of a City Street Sweeper.

Dr. Loveall et a1; presented a petition to the City Council, protesting the
Zoning of upper Monterey St. as altered by the Planning Commission at their recent
meeting and requested that the zoning be R -1 as originally presented on the map, filed
with the City Council, and on motion of G.W. Baker, seconded by F.L.Gist, the petition
was ordered received and filed upon the following roll call vote:

The site for the Federal Housing Units were again discussed. Mr. George
Stephens of the County Housing Authority appeared before the Council stating that the
city would receive the 80 units, but no trailers were available at this time. After
discussion, Mr. F.L.Gist, Mr. G.W.Baker, the City Engineer, Kenneth Beck, together with
Mr. Stephens were asked to make a field survey this afternoon and present their findings
at the meeting of the City Council at 7:30 P.M. on the same day,

Master Plan as presented to the Council by the Planning Commission, and for the
adoption of the proposed Zoning Ordinance. No decision reached at this time as to the

fee of $15.00 received and on motion of F. L. Gist, seconded by G. +(.Baker, it was

The application of Julius Schwartz for license for Pool Hall at 974 1,donterey
St. at the Owl Club-was referred to the.Comraissioner of Public Health and Safety for
investigation and report on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by G. W. Baker.
The Merchandising Bond of Chester R. Bowden in the amount of $200 with
S. Iii. Forden, C.A.Curtis and B.VI.Oberholser as secutity was received and on motion of
F. L. Gist, seconded by G. 1. Baker, the surety was accepted and license ordered issued.
The petition of the Owl Taxi Co. as_cinr, permission to install a two -way
Radio Equipment on the roof of the Andrews Hotel was referred to the Commissioner of
Public Works, with power to act, on motion of Clyde T. O'Nan, seconded by r". L. Gist.
Communication from the Scott Distributing Co. requesting parking space for
their trucksin the 700 Block on Pacific St. was referred to the Commissioner of Public
Health and Safety, with power to act, on motion of G. GJ. Baker, seconded by F.L.Gist.
Communication received from Herbert B. Cohen requesting permission to con-
struct a canvas and pipe canopy in front of the entrance at 964 Monterey St. as per
sketch attached was denied on m®tion of Clyde T. O'Nan, seconded by R. P. Howell.
Com:n,unication from 0. J. Laurent requesting a license to sell fireworks
on July 3rd and 4th was granted and the City Clerk was instructed to issue license.

Claims against the city for the month of June were ordered paid, subject
to the approval of the heads of the respective departments and the Mayor.
Transfer of license of the Signal Oil Co. "station from Victor Stone to D.J.
Griffin and J. G. Stout at 751 Marsh St. was granted on motion of Clyde T. O'Nan,
seconded by G. 14. Baker.
Transfer of the San Luis Market at Marsh and Morro Streets from Fred Witcosky
to Harley Gill was held over pending clearance from the health department.
Communication from James H. i:urphy requesting the city to extend water and
se: .-der service on Bishop :St. off Johnson Ave. was denied on motion of R.P.Howell, seconded
by F.L.Gist..
The Plans and specifications for the construction of a reinforced concrete
retaining wall on Johnson Ave. in front of the Unangst property as presented by Mr.
Beck, City Engineer, were ordered received and filed and the work was denied on motion
of R. P. Howell, seconded by F. L. Gist upon the following roll call vote:

The application of Mrs. Alice Benedict for Restaurant license at 985 4 93
Pismo St. was denied on motion of F.L.Gist, seconded by R.P. Howell.
The application of J. K. LeClure for Lodging House License at 1223 Chorro St.
was granted on motion of Clyde T. O'Nan', - seconded by G. al. Baker.
Communication from Ilo J. Munez for - permission to extend a taxi zone at 960
Higuera St. was denied on motion of Clyde T. O'Nan, seconded by G.W.Baker.
Re: Bids: The bid submitted by Kimball Motor Co. for 1 GMC Truck in the
amount of $2959.98 as per published notice, was accepted. The Bid of E. H. Thresh Inc.
for Two 1946 Ford VS DeLuxe Fordor Sedans for the Police Dept* in the amount of $1310.73
for each car or a total -price of $2621,46 was accepted on motion of G. W.Baker, seconded
by F. L. Gist.
The transfer of the Mission Taxi Co: was denied.
The application of J. R. Harless for license for Bottled Water Service was
denied oh motion of Clyde T. O'Nan, seconded by F. L.Gist.
The Iviayor appointed Santos Leguina to succeed himself for a 5 year period
as member of the Park, Playground and Recreation Cog*ission; the appointment was unani-
mously approved by the Council.
Dr. B. F. Loveall acting as spokesman for a group of property owners appeared
before the Council, protesting the city's action on the site selected for the Federal
Housing Units; matter discussed but no action taken.
Mr. Fred Schwartz, representing the Amvets, World War #2 veterans, appeared
before the Council, approving the site, stating that the site -is desirable inasmuch as
it is close in to the city and shopping district,
At this time, Commissioner R.P.Howell was asked to be excused from the
meeting; the h1ayor granted the request.
On motion of G.W.Baker, seconded by F.L.Gist, it was ordered that the
Council release the priority on 20 of the 80 units in favor of the California Poly School,
as the city at this time has suitable space for 60 units, and the County Housing Authority
was authorized to proceed with construction of the units on the sites decided upon and
the City Clerk was instructed tozadvise Mr. George Stephens, Director of the Housing
Authority, of the Council's action,
On motion of G.W.Baker, seconded by F.L.Gist, the Council approved the follo
ing sites to be used for-Federal Public Housing:
#1 - Block C in the City of San Luis Obispo facing Palm Street, thence at right angles
299 ft, along Grand Ave., thence at right angles 150 ft. along Mill St., thence
290 ft. along Park to the point of beginning; also including that area adjacent
to said Block designated on the map as "Park Street ".
#2-- That portion of land known as "Hollywood Subdivision" in the City of San Luis
Obispo, located on upper Lonterey Street,
This land should utilize approximately 60 dwellings of the 80 offered- the remaining 20
units should be released and made available to the California Poly School and the City
Council authorized the County Housing Authority to proceed negotiations to obtain the 60
units from the F. P. H.A., and the Council appointed City Engineer, Kenneth Beck and
City Attorney, George Andre, to start negotiations immediately with the F. P.H.A. and
the City Clerk was instructed to notify the County Housing Authority that the city is
ready to proceed,
Resolution No. 767 (New Series),- A Resolution approving sites in City
of San Luis Obispo to be used by Federal 1`ublic Housing Authority was passed and adopted
on motion of G.`J.Baker, seconded by Clyde T. O'Nan upon the following roll call vote:
