The applications filed byHarry K. Clendenning and Ralph E. Hartley for
Restaurant and Cigars Sideline at 1022 Railroad Ave. was granted on motion of Kline
,dilliams, seconded by R. P. Howell.
Notification received from the State Board of Equalization for an
"Off Sale Beer and Wine" license.for Hollis & Lucille IA. Brown, at Grove and Monterey St.
was ordered filed.
Communication from the State of California, Dept. of Finance, Postwar
Public 4'Jorks Review Board, requesting the city's overall Postwar program to be filed
in their office was rea d and on motion of F. L. Gist, seconded by G.W.Baker, the com-
munication was ordered received and filed and the City Clerk was instructed to notify
1enneth Beck regarding the request as outlined in their letter and copies of the letter
to be made for each member of the Council.
Communication from the Division of Hi,hways petitioning for cancellation of
taxes on real and personal property described in deed as follows:
"The real property described in deed from Guy Id. Baldwin and Alta M.
Baldwin to the State of California, dated August 29, 1946, and recorded
Oct. 24, 1946, in Volume 424 of Official Records, at page 300, being a
part of Block 61 in the City of San Luis Obispo, and a part of the Linda
Vista Addition to the City of San Luis Obispo, as m;,re particularly des-
cribed in said deed ", and
it was ordered on motion of R.P.Howell, seconded by Kline Williams that the City Council
cancel the taxes for the year 1946 -1947 on the above property and that it be entered of
record as non - assessible and to be removed from the Rolls as the propertyhas been acquired
by the :Mate of California.
Communication received from Dr. Loveall, Chairman, Park, Playground and
Recreation Commission relative to supervision of the U.S.O. Building, and on motion of
F. L.Gist, seconded by G. W. Baker, seconded by G.W.Baker the communication was ordered
received and filed and the City Clerk was instructed to furnish them with a certified
copy of the inventory of all furniture and equipment contained within the U.S.O. Bldg.,
and the dispJsition of said items are to be referred to the Commissioner of Finance, with
oo:ver to act.

Petition of Witcosky Co. requesting the city to cnnnect city sewer system with
the new slaughter house outside the city limits was again presented, and on motion of
R.P.Howell, seconded by G.W.Baker, they were granted a temporary connection pending a
settlement of the amount to be charged for the use of the city's sewer system; this
temporary permit was granted with the provision that same may be denied within a 24 hours
written notice.
The applications of Fred Comer for Restaurant and Cigars Sideline license at
412 Higuera St. dba "Folly Cafe" was again held over pending the issuance of the health
permit.
Ordinance No. 276 (New Series) - An Ordinance of the City of San Luis Obispo
imposing a License Tax for the privilege of selling tangible personal property at retail,
providing for permits to retailers, providing for the collecting and paying of such tax,
and prescribing penalties for violations of the provisions hereof was finally passed
on motion of G. VI. Baker, seconded by Kline :lilliams upon the following roll call vote:

Ordinance No. 277 (New Series) - An Ordinance amending Sections 23, 40, 55,
591 67, 751 82, 85, 939 991 109, 110, and 112 of Ordinance No. 76 (New Series) entitled
''tin Ordinance Licensing and regulating the doing of certain acts and the carrying on of
certain trades, callings, business, professions and occupations within the corporate limits
of the city of San Luis Obispo, California, and precribing penalties for the violation
thereof ", and adding sections 594, 591,j 1159 1169 1179 118, 119, 120 and 121 of said
Ordinance was introduced and passed to print on motion of R.P.Howell, seconded by r'.L.
Gist upon the following roll call vote:

Ordinance No. 278 (Nevis Series) - An Ordinance amending Section 1 of
Ordinance No. 255 (New Series) entitled "An Ordinance licensing and regulating the
business 6f conducting or operating card games or card tables and providing penalties for
the violation thereof" was introduced and passed to lrint on motion of F. L. Gist, seconded
by G. VI. Balzer, upon the following roll call vote:

Ordinance No. 9.79 (New aeries) - An Ordinance anranding Sections 2,3 and 4
of Ordinance No. 222 (clew Series) entitled "An Ordinance defining and regulating the use
of Mechanical Amusement Devices in the City of San Luis Obispo; providing for the issuance
of licenses to the operators and owners of, and licenses for the use, operation and
maintenance of, Mechanical Amusement Devices; Providing for the Impounding and Confis-
cation of such devices when installed, operated or maintained to be operated in violation
of this Ordinance; providing for a saving clause; and providing penalties for the violation
of this ordinance was introduced and passed to print on motion of R.P.Howell, seconded
by F. L. Gist upon the following roll call vote:

On motion of R.P.Howell, seconded by Kline'dilliams, the City Attorney was in-
strutted to write Mr. J. J. Jordan, Supt. of the Southern iacific P.R. Co. calling; to his
attention the condition of the sump hole at the end of Alphonso St. in the City of San
Luis Obispo.
