O.Hall, R.P.Howell, Timothy I. O'Reilly, Kline Williams Absent: None The minutes of the previous meetings were approved. This being the time set for receiving bids on a Comprehensive Public Liability and Property Damage insurance, and "Products Liability" insurance, the following is a list of all bids received: 1 - L.W.Kamm - National Auto Insurance Co. 2 - F.L.Gist Great American Ins. Communication from Ben F. Loveall Re: Grand Ave. Park area was referred to the City Attorney on motion of Wm. O.Hall, seconded by G.W.Baker. Communication from Mission Tailoring Service requesting a Parking Zone area in the 1200 Block Morro Street was ordered received and filed and the City Clerk was in- structed to inform them the city intends to extend the parking zones in this district for one hour parking. Communication from Wm. C. Cerney of the .San Luis Obispo Taxi Re: Change of Taxi zone to 999 Monterey 3t. was referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for investigation and report. Communication from the Chief of Police of Paso Robles asking assistance of our Police Dept. in helping them on Pioneer Day,- onmotion of Kline Williams, seconded by R. P. Howell, the request was granted. Communication from the Exchange Club asking permission to display a Ford car upon the city streets for the purpose of a "car drawing ", - proceeds to go for raising funds for the War Memorial Buildings at the corner of Santa Rosa and Pismo Streets, the City Park, was granted on motion of Kline Williams, seconded by Wm. 0. Hall, Communicationfrom San Luis Obispo Post No. 66, American Legion, requesting that the Council proclaim a half holiday to honor the memory of the dead of World War II with special memorial services for the first hero to be returned; the request was referred to the Mayor on motion of 1Vm. 01 Hall, seconded by R.P.Howell. Communication from the Public Library asking the Council if the City wishes to do the work onenlargement of the staff in the library, and on motion of Vm. C. Hall, seconded by G.W.Baker, it was referred to Commissioner R.P.Howell, with power to act. Permissi -.n was granted the D.A.V.'s to h.ld the Annual Forget -me -not flower sale on Oct. 10th and 11th, on motion of Wm. 0. Hall, seconded by G.W.Baker. Communicationfrom Robert P. Binns, Principal Emerson School, addressed to Chief E}-,perly, asking the City for a Crossing Guard at Broad Street between Marsh and Islay Streets, in order to protect the children crossing Broad 5t. to attend the Emerson School. Waterstreet to Harry Sugarman San Luis Market from Harley Gill to auger & Williams Blackstone Hotel from C.S. Clinton to Ernest Lehnhof Depot Coffee Shop from H. K. Clendening to Robert Stover Neshe's Beauty Parlor from Dorothy Devens to Esther Robinson Application of the American Latin Daughters for a dance to be held in the Recreation Building on November 1st, 1947 was granted on motion of Kline Williams, seconded by R.P.Howell. The following Merchandising Bonds were granted and licenses ordered issued on motion of Wm. O. Hall, seconded by Kline Williams: Gregg P. Soto - ( selling concrete pipe) Elmer L. Thomson- ( selling cabinets etc. and Turn. repairs ) Singer Sewing-Machine Co. ( American Surety Co. as surety ) The application of Clarence Larsen for City License for Restaurant, Cigars 3idel dba Redwood Tree at 1254 Monterey St. was referred to Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for investigation and report: Ordinance No. 289 (New Series) - An Ordinance amending Section 1 of Ordinance No. 255 (New Series) entitled "An Ordinance licensing and regulating the business of con- ducting or operating card games or card tables and providing penalties for the violation thereof" was finally passed on motions of R. P. Howell, seconded by G.W.Baker upon the following roll call vote: Ayes: G.W.Baker, Wm. 0. Hall,R.P.Howell, Timothy I. O'Reilly,Kline Williams Noes: None Absent: None Ordinance No. 290 (New Series) - .An Ordinance providing for the acquisition of certain real property by the City of San Luis Obispo was finally passed on motinn of R. O'Reilly,Kline Williams oes : IT absent: None Ordinance No. 291 (New Series) - yn Ordinance relating to Traffic and Regulat the use of public streets.in the City of San Luis Obispo, defining and providing for the establishment of Parking Meter Zones; Regulating and controlling and providing for in- spection of the Parking of'Vehicles therein by the use of parking meters; prescribing limits of time for parking in parking meter zones; providing for the enforcement of this Ordinance and providing penalties for the violation thereof was finally passed on motion of R.P.Howell, seconded by G.W.Baker upon the following roll call vote Ayes; G.W.Baker, Vim. 0. Petition presented by Mrs. George Benner et al requesting street work on Fgixlini, pham, Lizzie and Spring Streets be started before winter sets in; the Petition was ordered ceived and filed on motion of Wm. 0.
