City Hall, Monday, March 8, 1548 - 7:30 P.M.
The Council met in adjourned session; Mayor Timothy I. O'Reilly presiding.
Present: G.'. -7. Baker, R.P. Howell, Timothy I. O'Reilly, Kline 'Williams
Absent: Wm. 0. Hall
Mr. W.W.Durfee of Carmel, California and Mr. Ralph W. Kelly of Lompoc,
Calif., applicants for the position of Chief of Police, were personally interviewed by the
Council at this time, and were assured by the Mayor and Council their application would
be given every consideration.
Ordinance No. 299 (New Series) - An Ordinance of the City of San Luis
Obispo creating the office of Chief Electrical Inspector and Prescribing the duties
thereof; Providing for the issuance of permits for the installation, alteration, addition
or repairs of electric wiring, appliances, devices or equipment, and for the collection
of fees therefor; etc. was passed to print on motion of R.P.Howell, seconded by G.W.
Baker upon the following roll call vote:
Ayes: G.W. Baker, R.P Howell, Timothy I. O'Reilly, Kline Williams
Noes: None
Absent: Wm. 0. Hall
Ordinance No. 298 (New Series) - An Ordinance amending Sections 4 and
41 of Ordinance No. 122 (New Series) entitled
the parking of vehicles on the -)ublic streets
adding Sections 44, 4.47 4.6, and 7.1 to said
Kline Williams, seconded by R. P. Howell upon
Ayes: G.W. Baker, R.P.Howell, Timothy I. O'Re
Noes: None
Absent: Wm. 0. Hall
"An Ordinance Regulating Traffic upon and
of the City of San Luis Obispo ", and
Ordinance was passed to print on motion of
the following roll call vote:

By order of the Council, all applications for positions with the City
of San Luis Obispo be filed with the City Engineer in the future.
Commissioner Wm. 0. Hall appeared at the meeting at this time ( 9 P. M. )
The following matters were ordered received and filed on motion of R.P.
Howell, seconded by G. ti•:r. Baker:
Communication from County Clerk Re: Health Officer- Meeting Marsh 15, 1948 at 2 P.M.
County Board of Supervisors Resolution- Re: Payment of Board to Sheriff for city
prisoners committed to the County Jail
'Report of Building Inspector for the month of February, 1948
Communication from American Legion Post 66 requesting permission to hold
street sale was referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety, with p6wer
to act, on motion of G.W. Baker, seconded by Wm. 0. Hall.
Application of Clyde Beatty Circus for City License for Circus to be held
on April 221 1948 was referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for inves-
tigation and report on motion of R.P.Howell, seconded by G.W. Baker.
On motion of G.W. Baker, seconded by Kline Williams, the claim of J. L.
Houseworth in the amount of $223.00 dram on the Public Health and Safety Fund was
ordered ppid.
Communication frommRalph Rhyne submitting his resignation from the Fire
Department was accepted as of April 10, 1948 on motion of Kline Williams, seconded by
G. W. Baker.
