On motion of G.W.Baker, seconded by Kline Williams, the Bid for the new 2 -Way Radio Station was awarded tothe MOTOROLA INC. in the amount of ?9163.50. On motion of G.W.Baker, seconded by R. P. Howell At the request of Mayor O'Reilly, the Council discussed the need for auxiliary Crossing Guards and the City Engineer was instructed to build a list of qualified men to act as School Crossing Guards, Resolution No 868 (New Series) - A Resolution accepting that certain Agreement entitled "Ninety -Nine Year Lease Agreement" was passed and adopted on motion of G.W.Baker, seconded by Kline Williams upon the folloiing roll call vote: Ayes: G.W.Baker, Wm. 0. O'Reilly, Kline Williams Noes: None Absent: R.P.Howell Communications: 1 - From the League of California Cities Re: Program.covering Institute on Streets and Highway problems to be held in Berkeley, January 31st and Feb. 1st and 2nd was referred to the City Engineer f6r study and report on motion of Wm. 0. Hall, seconded by Kline Williams 2 - On motion of Kline Williams, seconded by Wm. 0. Hall, that the resignations submitted 4 by E. V. Stumpf and Kenneth Ostrander of the Police Department.be accepted. 3 - The petition from the San Luis Obispo Riding and Roping Club for permission to hold a dance to be held on January 22nd was referred to Commissioner of Public Healt and Safety with power to act. 4- Communication from C.A. Maino making application for zoning variance was referred to the Planning Co;tissioner for study and report on motion of Wm. 0. Hall, seconded by Kline Williams. 5 - Communication from A. 0: Johnson and Hugh McLennan Re: dedication property for street purposes was referred to the City Engineer for report. Hall, the following transfer of city licenses were granted: 1 - College Cafe at Foothill abd Santa Rosa St. to James Vlaming 2 - Signal Service Station, 751 Marsh St. to Kenneth Jones 3 - El Camino Liquor Store, 960 Monterey St. to C. J. Schlegel 4 - Beulah's Place, 850 Marsh St. to Victoria Bettnncourt. 5 - Anderson Hotel Cigar Store and Gift Shop to Fred W. Knecht The application of A.E. Eklund for Cabinet Shop at 110 Toro St. was denied on motion of Kline Williams, seconded by Wm. 0. Hall. The following.applications for Contractor's Licenses were received and on motion of Wm. 0. Hall, seconded by Kline Williams, the bonds were approved, sureties accented and registration granted: 1 - Floyd A. Crinpen - Class "E" - Plastering Contractor 2 - Gallagher and Ochs- Class "E" - Electrical " 3 - Stolte.Inc. - Class "C" - General " Petition filed by Peter Andre requesting "Street Vacation" was referred to the Planning Commission on motion of Wm. 0. Hall, seconded by Kline Williams. Petition filed by Shannon Horn et al requesting zoning variance was referred to the Planning Commission on motion of Wm. 0. Hall, seconded by Kline Williams. Old Business The following matters were ordered received and filed: 1 - Petition filed by San Luis Obispo Safety Council requesting Crossing Guard at Walnut, Toro and Hathway Streets. 2 - Communication from Ben Royce Re: fire hazard on High Street Application of Chas. A. Webe for City License for Launderette on Hathway Ave. off California Blvd. was granted on motion of G.W. Baker, seconded by Wm. 0. Hall-. Resolution No. 869 (New Series) - A Resolution designating the City Engineer to file report required by Section 2151 of the Streets and Highway Code was passed and adopted oa motion of G.W. Baker, seconded by Kline Williams upon the following roll call vote: Ayes: G. W. Baker, Wm. 0. Hall, Timothy I. O'Reilly, Kline Williams Noes: None Absent: R.P. Howell It was moved by G.W. Baker, seconded by Kline Williams that the Bid on Street Sweeper be awarded to the Elgin Co. of Elgin - Illinois in the amount of $10,690.00 to be paid out of the Public Imnrovement and Betterment fund. Communication from University of California Re: Traffic Training School wa again held.over.
