The Co>?ncil met in regular session; Mayor Timothy I.O'Reilly presiding.
Present: D.M.Carpenter, Paul W.Davis, Fred Lucksinger, Timothy I. O'Reilly, Frank V.Woods
Absent: None
The Minutes of the meeting of May 19, 1952 were approved.
This being the time set for receiving bids ( as per advertised Notice) on
(1) Pismo Street Imp. ( Osos to Essex St. )
(2) Extension of.San Luis Drive ( Ida Street to Johnson Ave.)
The following bids were publicly opened and read:

After study and review it was moved by D.M.Carpenter, seconded by Frank V.Woods
that the bids be awarded to Henry C.Dalessi.
Resolution No. 1105 (New Series) - A Resolutinn accepting Bid for Pismo Street
Improvement Project No. 0252 was passed and adopted on motion of Paul [;r.Davis, seconded by
Frank V.Woods upon the following roll call vote:
Ayes: D.M.Carpenter, Paul W.Davis, Fred Lucksinger, Timothy I. O'Reilly, Frank V.Woods
Noes: None
Absent: None
Resolution No. 1106 (New Series) - A Resolution accepting Bid for Extension of
San Luis Drive was passed and adopted on motion of Paul W. Davis, seconded by Frank V.
Woods upon the following roll call vote:
Ayes: D.M Carpenter, Paul W.Davis, Fred Lucksinger, Timothy I. O'Reilly, Frank V.Woods
Noes: None
Absent: None
Claims against the City for the month of May, 1952 were ordered paid subject to
the approval of the heads of the respective departments and the Mayor.
The following reports were ordered received and filed:
City Police Judge's Report for the month of May, 1952
City Treasurer's " " " " " April, 1952
Copy of City Planning Commission meeting of April 17, 1952.
Communications:
1 - From Park Playground and Recreation Commission requesting permission to sell Victoria
Street playlot and on motion of Frank V.Woods, seconded by D.M. Carpenter, the request
was granted and the City Clerk was instructed to offer the property for sale at Public
Auction to be held at 7:30 P.M., July 7, 1952.
Communication from the Library Board asking the Council to approve a leave of
absence for one year to Catherine Browell and to hire Mary Gold as a substitute as of
July 1, 1952; same was approved by the Council on motion of Paul W.Davis, seconded by
Frank V.Woods.
Communication from the Guide Dogs for the Blind, Inc. requesting permission for
street demonstration on Monday, June 9th was granted on motion of Frank V. Woods,
seconded by Fred Lucksinger.
Communication from the Division of Highways requesting cancellation of City Taxes
on the property listed acquired for highway purposes was granted on motion of D.M.
Carpenter, seconded by Frank V.Woods.

Report submitted by the Traffic Committee covering locations of Stop Signs and 419
Parkins Meters was reviewed and it was moved by Frank V.Woods, seconded by Paul W.Davis,
that the recommendations be accepted upon the following roll call vote:
Ayes: Frank V.Woods, Paul W.Davis
Noes: D.M.Carpenter, Fred Lucksinger, Timothy I. O'Reilly

On motion of Fred Lucksinger, seconded by Timothy I.O'Reilly, the City Attorney was
isstructed to draft proper Resolution limiting PARKING one to one-and one -half hours
on Palm Street from Santa Rosa to Chorro Streets (Commissioner Frank.V.Woods voting "No ".
.The Council approved the Traffic Committee's recommendations for new Boulevard Stop
Signs at the following locations:
Two on Essex at Mill Street
Two on Johnson at Mill "
Two on Ida at Mill St.
Two on Essex at Palm St.
Two on Toro at Buchon St.
Two on Morro at Pismo St.
One on Toro at Pismo St. to stop North bound Traffic
One on Laurel Lane at Orcutt Road
Two on Leff at Chorro St.
One onIslay at Chorro St.
Two on Church at Chorro St.
Communication from the City Recreation Commission requesting meeting with the City
Council on Budget matters was granted and communication ordered received and filed on
motion of D.M.Carpenter, seconded by Frank V.Woods.
Petition from Lloyd Noble petitioning for change in name of.M & N Cab Co. to
"City Taxi" was granted on motion of Fred Lucksinger, seconded by Paul W.Davis.
Communication from Trojan Construction Co. requesting the Council to accept McMillan
Manor Tract and release of bond of the Glens Falls Indemnity Co. securing performance
of work; on motion of Paul W.Davis, seconded by D.M.Carpenter,-,-,the Council agreed to
release the Trojan Construction Co. bond covering the Subdivision withthe understanding
that the concern would pay one -half the cost up to $1000 for building drainage culverts
along the southside of Foothill Blvd. and Williams & Burrows post a $2500 bond insuring
completion of the remaining work. The above subject to 14 or 15 items as outlined by
the City Engineer.
The application of the Purple Heart for dance on June 20, 1952 at the Veterans
Memorial Bldg. was granted on motion of D.M.Carpenter, seoonded by Frank V.Woods
The Council appointed Staley M. Sanson, Accountant - appraiser at a salary of
9375.00 per month as of June 16, 1952 on motion of Paul W.Davis, seconded by Frank V.Woods.
The Proposed Budget as submitted by Commissioner Paul W.Davis was ordered received
and filed for study by the Council to meet at 7:30 P.M. Wednesday evening.
Ordinance No. 365 (New Series) - An Ordinance of the City of San Luis Obispo
authorizing a contract between the City of San Luis Obispo and the Board of Administration,
California State Employees' Retirement System, etc. was passed to print on motionof Frank
V.Woods, seconded by Paul W Davis upon the following roll call vote:
Ayes: D.M.Carpenter, Paul W.Davis, Fred Lucksinger,Timothy I.O'Reilly,Frank V.Woods
