City Hall, Monday August 22, 1955 - 7:30 P.M.
The City Council met in Special Session; T�iay.or Fred.H.Lucksinger presiding.
Present: Nels Beck, Lowell E.Christie., Warren G.Edwards, Fred.H.Lucksinger
Absent : Kenneth W.Jones
Resolution No. 12 1955 Series) - A Resolution authorizing the City Clerk to accept
and record Deed of Real property from Maggie A.Carbv Brown et al was passed and adopted
on motion of Nels Beck, seconded by Warren G.Edwards upon the following roll call vote:
Ayes: Nels Beck, Lowell E.Christie, IYarren G. Edwards, Fred H. Lucksinger

On r.ction of e'rarren G.Edwards, seconded by Lowell E.Christie,! the City Clerk was in-
structed to request cancellation of County taxes on the property purchased for the
parking lot on Broad Street between Marsh and Higuera Streets, also, to cancel the city
taxes on the same property.
Communication from the Public Utilities Commission, State of California, with " Order to
show cause" regarding the JOHNSON AVE. UNDERPESS was ordered received and filed on m otion
of Lowell E.Christie., seconded by Warren G. Edwards.
Upon recommendation of Homer Hamlin, City Engineer, and concurrence by Mr. Richard Miller,
Administrative Officer,that the City accept the bid of Smith Booth Usher on the Jaeger
Compressor-- the bid was received on August 15, 1955, in the sum of $2,255 plus tax; and
on motion of Nels Beck,seconded by Warren G.Edwards, it. was moved that the recommendation of
the City Bngineer and the Administrative Officer be accepted and that the bid be awarded
to Smith Booth Usher Co.
Re: Report of the Com.Iiittee which was appointed to investigate the .condition of the
Bunya Bunya tree was read to the Council,- the report was ordered received.and filed and
the City Clerk was instructed to write a letter to each member of the committee thanking
them for their efforts and the time spent on this investigation.
On motion of Z'iarren G. Edwards, seconded by Fels Beck the City Engineer was instructed
to remove the Bunya Bunya tree the best possible way that it can be done with Safety
and Economy.
On motion of Nels Beck, seconded by Warren G. Edwards, the Council approved, inprinciple
the formation of a "City Safety Committee" to consist of the City Department Heads.
Resolution No. 13 1955 Series) - A Resolution increasing the 1955 -56 Budget was passed
and adopted on motion of Warren G. Edwards, seconddd by Nels Beck upon the following
roll call vote:
Ayes: Nels Beck, Lowell E.Christie, Warren G.Edwards, Fred H. Lucksinger .
Noes: None
Absent: Kenneth W.Jones
Resolution No. 14 1955 3'eries) - A Resolution amending Resolution No. 11 ( 1955 Series)
authorizinv certain City Officials and Employees to retain and use City Vehicles at all
times was passed and adopted on motion of Warren G.Edwards, seconded by Lowell E.Christie
upon the following vote:
Ayes: Nels Beck, Lowell E.Christie, Warren G. Edwards, Fred H. Lucksinger
Noes: None
Absent: Kenneth W. Jones
Re: Report of the Traffic Committee: matters referred to the Traffic Committee were
held over.
Gom,runication from the City, of Santa ",aria, inviting the City Council to attend the city's
Semi - Centennial Celebration on Sept. 10th and 11th, 1955 was referred to Vir. Richard
i.iiller, Administrative-Officer, to follow through for reservations for the City Council.
Re: Communication from J.T.Arsenio to Antone Doko of the Valley paving Co. regarding
damage done to his curb and gutter by the Valley Paving and Construction Co. equipment
was referred to the City Engineer for action.
Ordinance No. 7 -1955 Series) - :yn Ordinance amending Section 9200.5 of the San
Luis Obispo illunicipal Code by reclassifying as C -3 certain real property in the City of
San Luis Obispo was passed to print on motion of Lowell E.Christie, seconded by Warren G.
Edwards upon the following roll call vote:
Ayes: Nels Beck, Lowell E.Christie, l--Tarren G; Edwards, Fred H. Lucksinger
Noes: None

Ordinance No. 8 1955 Series) - An Ordinance amending Section 9200.5 of the San Luis
Obispo II'iunicipal Code by Reclassifying as R -1 certain real property in the City of San
Luis Obispo was passed to print on motion of Warren G.Edwards, seconded by Nels Beck

At this time 1-jr. Wayne Vaughn, co -owner of the Green Bus Service appeared before the
Council regarding his application to the Public Utilities Commission for an increase in
fares on the Green Bus; they applied for an increase of fram 150 to 200 per ride but
