HomeMy WebLinkAbout11/15/195527 Report of Mr. Richard Miller onhis attendance on a joint interim- committee meeting of the State Legislature on procedure held in Santa Barbara on October 24th, 1955, was ordered received and filed. On motion of Kenneth W.Jones, seconded by Lowell E.Christie, the recommendation of the Traffic Committee was approved and the meterwas ordered placed, on Higuera Street across from Garden Street. Request of R.R.Duncan for a portion of Third an dToro Street owned by the City, be deeded to him, was referred to the City Attorney and the City Engineer. Resolution No. 26 ( 1955 Series)_- A Resolution abandoning portions of Turner Street, Stafford Street and Champlin Street was passed and adopted on motion of Kenneth W.Jones, seconded by Lowell E. Christie upon the following roll call vote: Ayes: Lowell E.Christie, Warren G.Edwards, Kenneth W.Jones, Fred H. Lucksinger Noes: None Absent: Nels Beck The resignation of Chief W.L.Burns was accepted,with regret, and ordered received and filed on motion of Kenneth W.Jones, seconded by Lowell E.Christie. Communication from Mr. Kenneth Beck, County Surveyor and Road Commissioner regarding installation of a diesel standby engine at the Cuesta Booster Pumping plant was briefed to the Council by IUTr Price Thompson. Mr. Thonpson was requested to contact representati of the County Road Commissioner's office to get the full particulars. Mr. Richard Miller reported to the Council regarding the completion of the survey made by the Underwriters of the Pacific for Fire Insurance rating. Mr. Miller stated the ratings will be given to the city some time in December when the complete report is filed. He stated that Colonel House recommended that a member of the city fire department be sent to the City of Los Angeles to be trained as a fire department drill master as the State training, in the fire department, requires a trained drill master. On motion of Warren G.Edwards, seconded by Lowell E.Christie, Mr. Richard Miller was instructed to contact the City of Los Angeles and make arrangements for sending one of the -fireman to this school. On motion of Kenneth "W.Jones, seconded by Warren G.Edwards, the meeting adjourned to Monday, November 15, 1955 upon the following vote: Ayes: Lowell E.Christie, Warren G.Edwards, Kenneth W.Jones, Fred H.Lucksinger Noes: None Absent: Nels Beck Approved this day of'� if1'T ��� .
