Report of the Traffic Committee: 56 -3 -1T The Committee has been studying conditions on Chorro Street for sometime and has noted the rising frequency of accidents at the corner of Lincoln and Chorro and near misses at other intersections. There were three property damage accidents at Lincoln and Chorro during 1955, and there have been two injury accidents causing three injuries already in 1956 After careful consideration, the Committee recommends that stop signs be placed at the fol- lowing side streets protecting Chorro: Both directions on Lincoln at Chorro Both directions. on Mountain View Both directions on Center Stop westbound traffic at Venable Both directions on Mission Stop westbound traffic on ;Vest Both directions on Meinecke Both directions on Rougeot Recommendation of the Traffic Committee was adopted and the City Attorney was ordered to prepare a resolution setting up these parking signals on moation of Warren G. Edwards, seconded by Kenneth W. Jones. 56 -3 -2T In response to a letter request from Harry Lacterman which is on tonight's agenda the Committee has studied the feasibility of a crosswalk adjacent to the pedestrian walk- ' way running from parking lot number 2. The Committee has studied this very carefully and finds that such a crosswalk would be very close to the Garden Street intersection which has two crosswalks already. Such a crosswalk in the middle of the block would definitely interfere with traffic and might confuse motorists to the point of endangering pedestrians. It is recommended that this request for an additional crosswalk be denied. Recommendation of the Traffic Committee was adopted on motion of Kenneth W. Jones, seconded by Warren G. Edwards. I 1 r-, F
