through the City of San Luis Obispo to 101 Freeway.
Mr. Lejonhud presented a map showing all the routes considered to date by
this Division Of Highways for a new route of Highway No. 1.
Mr. Lejonhud explained construction and right -of -way problems on each proposed
route and also described each route showing the benefits and objections to the
motoring public.
Mr. Lejonhud explained that the presentation being made today was a preliminary
presentation being made to representatives of the City and County and that a
public hearing with a full scale presentation would be made on June 24, 1965 in
' the Council Chambers of the City Hall.
Mr. Lejonhud proceeded through the use of smaller maps to discuss each of the
routes which had been studied by the Division of Highways.
Alternate No. IA. - Broad Street Route, from No.1 Freeway to No. 101 Freeway.
Alternate No. 3 -Rev. - which was the California route through Cal Poly property
west of the railroad.
Alternate No. 3B - was a California Boulevard Route, Santa Rosa to Foothill

Mr. Lejonhud, after a short discussion and answer period, stated that the next
step was the calling of a public hearing by the District Engineer at which time
the public would be asked to take part and at which time the testimony would be
taken by tape and in writing, and also at which time any public agency could
present endorsement or dritism of the routes proposed.
All the details of the testimony would be held open for thirty (30) days at the
District Office for additional documentation.and would then be forwarded to the
Department of Public works for their final determination, at which time any
additional public hearings could be held by the Public Works Board at the re-
quest of the City Council and /or Board of Supervisors.
Following is an economic comparison as of May 1965, of the six (6) routes
presented:
