R. D. Miller reviewed each piece of equipment to be replaced with the City -Council
and the City Council requested that additional information be brought to them before
completion of the - budget study for their consideration.
3. The City Council then continued their budget study of the proposed 1968 budget
starting with Page 87 and ending with Page 141 inclusive.
4. On motion of Councilman Gallagher, seconded by Councilman Spring, the meeting
adjourned to 11:30 A.M. Friday, May 24, 1968. Motion carried.

Present: Emmons Blake, Frank Gallagher, Arthur F. Spring, '
Donald Q. Miller, Clell W. Whelchel
City Staff
Present: J. H. Fitzpatrick, City Clerk; R. D. Miller, Administrative
Officer.
1. Mayor Whelchel brought to the Council's attention the fact that the Obispo the
Beautiful Committee requested that the City Council reconsider their action in
ordering freeway directional signs throughout the City.
The Committee felt that possibly smaller signs would be better than the standard
directional sign.
The City Council stated they had no objection and to hold up ordering the signs for
one month.
2. The City Council undertook the study of the budget starting with Page 142'
through 177 inclusive.
Following discussion of the Park and Recreation Budget, it was moved by Councilman
Miller, seconded by Councilman Spring, that the City put the Park Sprinkler System
Installations, including the City Hall project.' out to'public bid and not by City
forces. Motion carried.
3. Communication was received from the Chamber of Commerce proposing an advertising
program for 1968 -69.
The matter was continued for Council study.
