1. J. Kellerman, Chief Building Inspector, presented to the City Council the
prob em-back fill against the walls of the new police facility stating that the
back fill does not follow specifications as it is too moist and contains too much
water to meet specified compaction. He continued that the soils engineer hired
by the architect felt that the compaction is adequate for laying out landscaping,
etc., and would not damage the building.
J. Ross, Architect, stated that at the completion of the building the contractor
is required to have soil tests made to see if the compaction meets with the speci-
fications. If the soil tests meet the specifications, no action will be taken,
._but_if the tests show the compaction is inadequate then the contractor.would_ have
to if
the soil for recompaction.
It was the general consensus of the City Council that the City would request the
additional test for soil compaction by the contractor. If the compaction is 90%
or better the City would pay for the test, but if the compaction is less than
90° the contractor would pay for the soil compaction test.
J. Ross stated he felt this was a good solution to the problem.
