Edna /Airport and Johnson areas of the City. He reviewed for the Council
areas of controversy brought out at the Planning Commission hearings and
the tentative zoning classifications adopted by the Planning Commission. He
suggested that the Council consider the following workshop and Planning
hearing schedules on zoning change considerations:
*Laguna suggested a workshop on 6/14 with public hearing.in.July'1977;
*The Airport /Edna area June 14 workshop session, public hearing July 1977;
*The Johnson area workshop July 1977, public hearing August 1977;
*College /Foothill area workshop session July 1977; public hearing August
1977;
*Central District workshop August 1977; public hearing September 1977.
The City Council then discussed with Terry Sanville the implications of the
Planning Commission recommendations for zoning changes which were to comply
with the General Plan.
Mayor Schwartz then allowed several persons in the ordinance to speak regard-
ing the Planning Commission's ultimate recommendation, but that no decision
would be made by the City Council.
Ben-Rudnick, Attorney for Rockwell Federal Employees Credit Union, objected
to the proposed zoning of.their.property to AC 40 acres and hoped that the
Council would relent and allow a property owner to get some return on their
investment if and when the City of San Luis Obispo did not take up its
option on the golf course.
Burt Polin, realtor, spoke on behalf of the Benetti property owners, urging
that the property not be zoned AC, but agreed with the proposal that the
property be zoned to CH as the land could not make a return as farm land with
crops, as the return presently did not even pay the land tax which did not
include the increased assessments in the current year.
All three protestors were told to return when the City Council had their
regular public hearing.
On motion of Councilman Gurnee, seconded by Councilman Dunin, the meeting
adjourned at 11:15 p.m., to 12:10 p.m., Wednesday, June 15, 1977. Motion
carried.
APPROVED: July 19, 1977

Andrew Merrian,_ architect, objected on
behalf of the property owner in the
auto park area on Los Osos Valley Road
to
the PD designation on the property
as he felt there no longer appeared to
be
any need for an auto - oriented
development in the area. He felt that
as
a planner, that this property was
prime for development for warehousing
and
allied uses. He stated there was
no need for a planned development but
that
there was a need for service
commercial uses.
