She would like to see something stronger for the downtown. She suggested an emergency ordinance be initiated to protect the Granada Hotel from being converted. She hoped the City could learn to approach these matters in a more positive vein; not always in the negative. Councilman Bond commented that he had recently sent letters to three large department stores asking them to comment on the feasibility-of'_establishing an• anchor store in the downtown or anywhere withiri..the city.. He:had received responses from all three:.(Broadway, May Co. and Bullocks) and they informed him that there was no possibility now or in the long range future that San Luis Obispo would be able to support the size of these stores. The purpose of the meeting was for the City Council and Planning Commission to discuss'matters.of.mutual concern involving the zoning and -planning matters within the City:of San Luis Obispo as-follows: A. Communication 1. Relationship between Commission.and Council and coordination of goals. 2. Possible use of regular joint meetings as an aid in coordinating efforts; and 3.
